Leaked Document Reveals Google Employees' War Against Breitbart

Share

The recent flood of revelations continues to expose censorship and bias at the highest levels within Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and, of course, Google and its subsidiary YouTube.

Google, in particular, has been in the crosshairs over the past few weeks after several employees and former employees have come forward with smoking gun accusations about the inner workings of the tech behemoth.

Wednesday, a fifth new report emerged revealing leaked documents that prove a war against Breitbart, a major player in the conservative news market, is raging within Google.

The document shows how Google employees are joining forces to cripple Breitbart’s efforts.

Specifically, the document, a captured email thread, says 1,186 Googlers (the nickname for Google employees) signed off on a plan sent to Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, that would, if approved, remove Breitbart from Google’s AdSense program and in effect “end Google’s business relationship with Breitbart.”

Google’s AdSense program is one of the most common tools a publisher can use to make money from traffic to its website. For most online publishers, getting blacklisted by Google AdSense would have a devastating, if not fatal, impact on their revenue.

James O’Keefe, the founder of Project Veritas, the company to which the document in question was leaked, emphasized the damning reality of this discovery.

“Google basically says they are impartial publishers of content and therefore are not liable for any content they publish,” O’Keefe said. “But these documents show that they are anything but impartial.”

The text of the email referenced by O’Keefe illustrates the lack of impartiality from within Google.

Tim Chevalier, a purported Google employee, wrote in his email, “I’m sure most of you are aware of the extreme sexism that articles and comments on Breitbart disseminate. For this and many other reasons, my colleagues and I have drafted an internal letter to leadership asking them to end Google’s business relationship with Breitbart and enforce AdSense policies on prohibited content.

“Please consider. And if you do agree, please ask others to sign. Our goal is to send the letter to company leadership tomorrow for their consideration. So far, 1186 Googlers have co-signed the letter.”

The petition mentioned by Chevalier was circulated and addressed to Pichai. It was titled “It’s Time to Remove Breitbart from AdSense.”

“This is more confirmation that Google is staffed by many left-wing activists with a totalitarian, un-American desire to silence, defund, and de-platform those with whom they politically disagree,” said Breitbart News’ Alex Marlow in a statement to Project Veritas.

The dark clouds of controversy surrounding Google have caught the eye of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

Cruz is holding a hearing next week with the expressed purpose of investigating Google’s alleged censorship of conservatives on its platform.

Conservative Tribune, a section of The Western Journal, has reached out to Google for comment but has not yet received a response. We will update this article if and when we do.
