AOC Tells Biggest Lie Possible About AL Abortion Bill, Proving She Never Read Bill She's Attacking

Share

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made a fool of herself once against by telling a huge lie about Alabama’s recent abortion bill.

On Tuesday, the Alabama Senate passed a bill that would outlaw nearly all abortions, following the passage of a similar bill in the House of Representatives late last month.

The bill would make it a Class A felony, punishable by up to 99 years in prison, for doctors to perform abortions.

The bill also makes exceptions for rare, life-threatening circumstances. And the text of the bill makes it perfectly clear that women would not be held criminally culpable for seeking abortions.

The second paragraph of the bill’s synopsis reads: “This bill would provide that a woman who receives an abortion will not be held criminally culpable or civilly liable for receiving the abortion.”

But that didn’t stop Ocasio-Cortez from lying to her millions of Twitter followers by claiming women would be punished.

“Alabama lawmakers are making all abortions a felony punishable w jailtime, incl women victimized by rape+incest,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Of course, no added punishments for rapists.”

Do you support Alabama's abortion ban?

Ocasio-Cortez is flat-out wrong.

The second paragraph of the bill made it perfectly clear that women will not be disciplined.

But perhaps Ocasio-Cortez didn’t know she was peddling a lie — maybe the freshman New York representative is simply ignorant.

However, I’d be more comfortable with the idea that Ocasio-Cortez is a malicious liar than a bumbling ignoramus who doesn’t bother to read the legislation she rails against.

And the representative’s quip about “no added punishments for rapists” is just as bad as the rest of her tweet, because rape is a Class A felony in Alabama.

In other words, rape can land someone in prison for life — so exactly what type of additional punishment does Ocasio-Cortez expect?

“Rape in the first degree is already a Class A felony in Alabama. It would take you 5 seconds to Google that,” LifeNews.com tweeted.

The Western Journal has reached out to Ocasio-Cortez for comment but has not yet received a response. We will update this article if and when we do.

Ocasio-Cortez is either a liar or a complete ignoramus. Either way, it’s embarrassing that she’s a United States representative.
