Barr Puts Sessions to Shame, Creates Team To Investigate DOJ & FBI's Anti-Trump Witch Hunt

Share

Attorney General William Barr has put together a team to investigate the origins and conduct of the deep state’s Russian “collusion” witch hunt against President Donald Trump.

During a hearing before the House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday, Barr said that he is reviewing surveillance activities by the FBI regarding the Trump campaign.

“I am reviewing the conduct of the investigation and trying to get my arms around all the aspects of the counterintelligence investigation that was conducted during the summer of 2016,” Barr said.

Testifying before the Senate Appropriations Committee, Barr made a similar commitment to look into the events surrounding the 2016 election.

On Wednesday, Trump told reporters that he is interested in looking into the “origins” of the “illegal investigation,” according to RealClear Politics.

“What has been found during this time are the illegal acts of getting this whole phony investigation started, and hopefully that’s where people are going now… It was an illegal investigation, it was started illegally. Everything about it was crooked,” Trump told reporters while leaving the White House for a trip to Texas.”

In particular, he cited former FBI Director James Comey, former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, former FBI Agent Peter Strzok and former bureau attorney Lisa Page.

“There were dirty cops. Bad people, you look at McCabe and Comey, and you look at Lisa (Page) and Peter Strzok, these were bad people,” Trump said.

Will Barr uncover illegal activity from the deep state?

“This was an attempted coup, an attempted takedown of the president.”

Texts exchanged between Strzok and Page that have become public showed just how much the two — who were engaged in an adulterous affair in 2016 — wanted Hillary Clinton to win the presidential campaign.

In August 2016, Strzok even reassured Page at one point that the FBI would try to stop Trump from becoming president.

“No. No he won’t. We’ll stop it,” Strzok texted.

Also in the summer of 2016, then-President Barack Obama’s Department of Justice seemed to collude with the FBI to go easy on then-Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton regarding her email scandal, according to testimony from Page.

During his impromptu news conference on Wednesday, Trump didn’t hold back.

“So the Mueller report, when they talk about obstruction … we fight back because I knew how illegal this whole thing was, it was a scam,” Trump said Tuesday at the White House.

“What I’m most interested in… is getting started on going back to the origins of exactly where this all started because this was an illegal witch hunt and everybody knew it. And they knew it, too. And they got caught. What they did was treason, what they did was terrible,” Trump added.

It was clear from the very start of the Russian investigation that it was a politically motivated witch hunt, but Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the investigation, leaving the White House at the deep state’s mercy.

Sessions wasn’t a terrible attorney general (he was great on issues like illegal immigration), but it’s undeniable that he dropped the ball on the Russian witch hunt.

It looks like Barr is going to do what Sessions didn’t.
