Retired neurosurgeon and former Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson said both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are “elderly” and should release their current medical records.
When asked on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Wednesday to comment regarding the rumors surrounding Clinton’s poor health, Carson noted that both candidates have a responsibility to be transparent about their health.
“I think that somebody who is running for President of the United States, particularly if they’re elderly, and that would include both major candidates, should disclose their medical history,” Carson said.

Carson added, “And I’m not talking about from a year ago or two years ago, I’m talking about currently.”
In the summer of 2015, the Clinton campaign released a statement from Clinton’s physician Dr. Lisa Bardack which listed the candidate’s deep vein thrombosis, seasonal allergies, and a concussion from 2012.

Reiterating that health issues are a possibility for both of the candidates, Carson said, “And I think that again, it’s common sense. It makes sense because as people get older things begin to happen to them.”
Carson was then pressed concerning the statements made by former New York Major Rudy Giuliani and others claiming Clinton is in bad health.

“But the implication from Rudy Giuliani — what do you think about that? Sowing the seeds of doubt about a person’s health based upon something he read on the internet,” questioned the host.

“All you have to do is go online,” Giuliani told Fox News. “Go online and put down ‘Hillary Clinton’s illness.’ Take a look at the videos for yourself.”
The Clinton campaign has denied rumors that the candidate is in poor health, chalking them up to “conspiracy theories.”
Carson, displaying the self-discipline of a highly trained physician responded, “As a physician, physicians and scientists generally will not make a diagnosis based on something that they see from a long distance, they want to have the facts.”
“My diagnosis would be that anybody who is elderly should expose their records and we the people should know what they are because it’s a very stressful job,” Carson added.

The Republican nominee should “absolutely” be held to the same standard, Carson concluded.
