The hotly-contested midterm races in Florida may finally — mercifully — be coming to a conclusion, but many questions still remain. At the top of the list is something conservatives have been asking since last week: Did corrupt election officials purposely meddle with ballot results?
As we previously reported, people including Broward County Election Supervisor Brenda Snipes have been credibly accused of election tampering or at least gross incompetence after ineligible, discarded ballots were mixed in with legitimate vote results.
Now, a conservative behind the “Bikers for Trump” citizens group believes he’s found a smoking gun in Florida: Plastic seals that may have been wrongfully removed from sealed ballot boxes.
“Bikers for Trump leader Chris Cox bustled through the throng of protesters at the Broward County elections office at the heart of the Florida recount fandango, drawing attention to colored zip-tie tags found on the ground near the building’s loading dock,” reported The Washington Times on Wednesday.
“This election is a fraud,” Cox said in a recent video posted to social media. “It’s pretty disgusting here. I’m glad that you’re not here because this isn’t anything you want to see.”
Although only about a dozen of the tags were allegedly found, that could potentially mean that tens of thousands of votes were tampered with.
Each ballot box holds around 2,500 individual ballots. “Based on having 15 tags, that could mean that approximately 37,500 ballots could have been tampered with,” Cox’s attorney Derek A. Schwartz wrote.
While he may not have any official power, Cox isn’t the only conservative raising the alarm about what happened in Florida over the last week.
“You cannot change the rules of the game after the game in order to win because that would be stealing an election, and that would be unacceptable,” declared Republican Senator Marco Rubio, who represents Florida.
Rubio pulled no punches, calling out “incompetent lawbreaking election officials” and penning a scathing Op-Ed piece about the voting irregularities.
“Boxes labeled ‘Provisional Ballots’ left behind at a polling place. Illegal opening and counting of mail ballots not reviewed by the canvassing board. Voters sent too many ballot pages,” the senator rattled off.
“And in Palm Beach County, election officials filled out new ballots to replace damaged ones, without allowing campaign representatives to witness the process of creating the new ballot, as required by Florida law,” Rubio continued.
Now, it must be noted that without an investigation into what Mr. Cox says he found, there are more questions than answers. But that’s part of the problem: The media in Florida and at the national level seems shockingly incurious about sniffing out facts or following up on these serious allegations.
It is absolutely shameful that in the world’s foremost democratic republic, the shining city on a hill, something as basic as fair elections can no longer be trusted.
We have reached a bizarre national tipping point. A country which sends probes to Mars and has satellites beaming signals into the pockets of everyone with a phone can’t even count votes in a transparent manner.
If fair elections are lost, then so are future conservative victories — but more importantly, so would be the United States as we know it.
