Bombshell Video Shows Beto O'Rourke Campaign Apparently Illegally Spending Campaign Funds

Share

A new bombshell undercover video exposes how the campaign staff of U.S. Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke appeared to use campaign resources illegally.

Project Veritas released the undercover footage which shows that O’Rourke’s campaign staff may have violated FEC guidelines by deceptively using campaign funds to buy supplies and help transport Honduran migrants to airports and bus stations.

The video records Dominic Chacon, a field manager for the O’Rourke campaign, discussing with field organizer AnaPaula Themann how they will use campaign funds and resources to help those traveling to the United States in the migrant caravan.

“So there’s like, a you know, that migrant caravan. A few of them got here already and they’re dropping them off, like, really close to Missouri,” Chacon said.

“I’m going to go get some food right now, like just some stuff to drop off because they need food and blankets,” Chacon added later.

Chacon and Themann also discussed how they would conceal the campaign’s use of the funds.

“Don’t ever repeat this and stuff, but like if we just say that we’re buying food for some event, like the Halloween events,” Themann said.

“That’s not a horrible idea, but I didn’t hear anything. Umm, we can wait until tomorrow for that,” Chacon responded.

Do you think the campaign should be punished for this?

Themann and Chacon later plotted how they would use campaign pre-paid cards to purchase food for the immigrants and play it off as a campaign breakfast.

“There’s actually stores that mark it as just ‘food,’ they don’t mark any different types … at Albertsons, on the receipts, it marks it just based off of brand,” Themann said.

“I think we can use that with those cards to buy some food, all that s*** can be totally masked like, oh, we just wanted a healthy breakfast,” Chacon said.

Chacon also said they could “get away with” using vans to help the migrants.

“We could probably get away with using the vans … Nobody needs to know, ” he said. “For me, I can just ignore the rules and I’m like f*** it.”

A Project Veritas attorney determined that video shows O’Rourke campaign workers violating FEC guidelines.

“The material Project Veritas Action Fund captured shows campaign workers covering up the true nature of spending of campaign funds and intentionally misreporting them. This violates the FEC’s rules against personal use and misreporting. It also violates Section 1001, making a false statement to the federal government,” the attorney assessed.

The illegal efforts of the campaign staff also seemed to have been given the OK by Jody Casey, the campaign manager of the O’Rourke campaign.

“The thing is, as long as we’re not advertising it. I mean yeah, I don’t really know… They said it was fine,” campaign staff member Andrea Reyes said.

“So you told Jody?” the undercover journalist asked.

“Yeah. I told Jody and I told my director,” Reyes responded.

The journalist also went directly to the campaign manager to ask about the use of campaign funds for immigrants.

“Don’t worry,” Casey responded.

There’s nothing wrong with helping needy people, but lying, deception and illegal activities during a campaign certainly don’t bode well for any sort of honest leadership from O’Rourke if he were to become a senator.

As Project Veritas founder and president James O’Keefe said, “Charity and helping your fellow man are things we applaud at Project Veritas Action. The problem is, you can’t break the law when you do it.
