Not only is he the chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, he’s also a former federal prosecutor with an impressive record of criminal convictions, including seven death penalty cases. So, when South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy sets his sights on proving someone has not been truthful — most of us would say proving someone is lying — it’s a good bet Gowdy has the goods.
If there’s any real justice still available in Washington, D.C., the fact that Trey Gowdy has just done something to offer proof positive that Hillary Clinton has not told the truth should be reason for the Democrat presidential contender to be concerned — concerned that her trustworthiness polling might sink even farther in the minds of American voters.
The Blaze reports that Rep. Gowdy has taken the unusual step of releasing the Benghazi committee’s March subpoena of Mrs. Clinton because the former secretary of state contradicted the facts in claiming in her recent CNN interview that she had never gotten one.

“The committee has issued several subpoenas, but I have not sought to make them public,” Gowdy said in a statement. “I would not make this one public now, but after Secretary Clinton falsely claimed the committee did not subpoena her, I have no choice in order to correct the inaccuracy.”
When asked by the CNN interviewer about the emailgate scandal surrounding her personal email account and her use of a private server to manage her digital communications, Mrs. Clinton tried to dismiss the issue with an air of frustration, bordering on indignation, that she would even be questioned about it.
But in claiming that she “never had a subpoena” related to her emails and their possible connection to the deadly Benghazi attack, Mrs. Clinton, Gowdy maintains, was absolutely and provably untruthful. In fact, as the GOP congressman said on the Hugh Hewitt radio show on Wednesday, Hillary received not just one subpoena, but three – two of which were issued to Clinton before she ordered that her email server be wiped clean.

Something else Hillary said in her CNN interview that’s now called into question by Gowdy’s revelation is the candidate’s assertion that people do, and should, trust her.
