Breaking Report: Ilhan Omar Has Left Husband as Rumors of Previous Marriage to Brother Continue To Circulate

Share

Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and her current husband have split up, a new report claims.

Omar has been married to Ahmed Hirsi, with whom she has three children, since 2018.

They were previously married in an Islamic ceremony in 2002, when Omar was 19 years old, before breaking up roughly six years later.

The first break-up would not last.

The couple got back together in 2012 and were legally married.

Now, it appears their relationship has ended for a second time, according to the U.K. Daily Mail.

“Omar has now dumped her current husband Ahmed Hirsi — who she first married in a religious ceremony in 2002 and divorced in 2008 — and moved into a penthouse apartment in one of Minneapolis’s trendiest neighborhoods,” the Daily Mail reported Friday.

The Western Journal has reached out to Omar’s office for comment, but did not hear back in time for publication of this article.

“But Hirsi, is also spending time at the apartment, which is just a block from the Mississippi River in the Mill District sector of Minnesota’s largest city, when she is out of town,” the report continued.

The Daily Mail asked Hirsi whether he and his wife had split, but Hirsi would not provide a response.

“Wow,” he told the outlet. “I can’t comment on that.”

“I’m sorry, I just can’t say anything.”

But an unnamed individual whom the Daily Mail identified as a “family friend” suggested Hirsi has been staying at Omar’s Minnesota home only when the congresswoman is out of town.

“He only goes there when Ilhan is in D.C.,” the friend said. “When she’s in Minneapolis he sleeps at his house.”

“The bust-up comes just as critics are demanding answers as to whether she married her own brother in a successful bid to get him into the United States,” the Daily Mail reported.

Omar married Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a British citizen, in 2009, and rumors have circulated that the two were blood relatives.

President Donald Trump added fuel to the fire this week, mentioning the accusation on Wednesday but saying he knew “nothing about it, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

This is a breaking story and is subject to revision as new facts come out.
