Christian School Principal Drops to 1 Knee After Performing 'Frozen' Duet with Girlfriend

Share

On August 3, 2018, a Christian school principal and his girlfriend took the stage at a youth camp lip-sync battle to perform their rendition of a song from Disney’s animated film, “Frozen.” His girlfriend had no idea that it would turn into one of the most memorable nights of her life.

Twenty-five-year-old Jeremiah Collins started dating Tessa Tanton, 23, on November 6, 2015. It was not a decision that he took lightly, however.

Tanton shared on a Facebook post that Collins had prayed for eighteen months before expressing his interest in pursuing her heart. He even sought counsel from various leaders in his life before having that conversation with her.

“I’ll never forget that night as I walked through that fence, seen your face glaring up at me & sat next you on that bench as you shared your heart with me,” she wrote. “Tears streamed down my face because God had been dealing with me that very week & was preparing me that it was time.”

Even though they both are so thankful that God brought them together, Tanton said that it hasn’t always been easy.

She even admits that she avoided him for six months after he shared his intentions to date her.

“We have seen the worst in each other, but in those times, we have chosen to stand by each other & always strive to push each other closer to God. We have fallen short many times, but by the Grace of God, we have overcome & we are still standing today,” she wrote.

She also said, “I was never quite convinced that God could take a girl like me & put her with a boy like you, but I’m so thankful He did.”

The couple has spent the past two years singing their hearts out on long drives, parasailing and, most importantly, loving others in the name of God together.

So when their church’s youth camp was coming up, Collins knew that the highly anticipated lip-sync battle would be the perfect opportunity to ask the girl he previously prayed for if she would marry him.

“I wanted the proposal to be unique and unforgettable. Something she would never expect and most definitely never forget,” he told Story Trender.

The couple got up on stage and performed a beautifully cheesy act to “Love Is An Open Door” from Disney’s animated film “Frozen.”

At the end of the song when Hans gets down on his knee and spontaneously asks Ana to marry him in the movie, the music stopped and Collins picked up a nearby microphone.

In front of their friends and family, he looked into Tanton’s eyes and said, “I have prayed and fasted for 25 years, for a godly, holy, sanctified prayer warrior, loving woman of God.” He then declared that she was the woman he had been praying for.

“Tonight in front of all of our friends and of all of our family I ask, will you do me the honor of being my wife?”

The room erupted in applause as he placed a ring on her finger.

“I SAID YES,” Tanton wrote on a Facebook post. “I am so excited to embark on this next adventure with God & I anticipate even greater for us in this next chapter of our lives!”

Collins echoed his fiancée’s excitement, and just in case you were wondering, yes, they did win the lip-sync battle.

The performance was to win, and beat the reigning champions who have won for the past two years in a row but we took the title this time,” he told Story Trender.

“And the wedding planning has already begun.”
