President Obama, who is in Mexico City meeting with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, said Friday that he didn’t watch GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, but he did read some of what was said during the week.
At a joint press conference with Peña Nieto, the president said, “The one thing that I think is important to recognize is this idea that America is somehow on the verge of collapse, this vision of violence and chaos everywhere, doesn’t really jibe with the experience of most people.”
In a headline on CNN’s homepage, the news organization summarized his comment as “Obama: Trump’s doom-and-gloom doesn’t match reality.”

That marked quite a contrast with story next to it: the breaking news of the most recent terrorist attack, this one at a shopping mall in Munich, Germany. That headline declared, “Shooting spree at mall.”
A screenshot of CNN’s clashing headlines was posted to Breitbart’s Facebook, along with the words, “Obama Just Got Wrecked By CNN’s Homepage.”

The screenshot showed the president’s dismissive comments alongside German SWAT team members engaging the Munich shooter.

Underneath the Munich photo was another headline: “Photos Monday: Ax attacker on German train.”
The Breitbart image had nearly 4,000 likes and was shared more than 2,000 times on Facebook late Friday afternoon.
Underscoring the criticism Obama is out of touch with reality, the image drew numerous comments on social media.
Matt Croswell posted on Facebook, “Gives speech about how Trump is wrong and things aren’t so bad, literally cut off mid sentence to cover another terrorist attack.”
“Funny how Everytime Obama makes a speech about how rosy the real world is there’s a terrorist attack,” said Bill Koenig. “The world would probably be better off if he just shut the hell up.”
