The future of the Constitution of the United States is being questioned on several fronts.
The sudden death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has created an open seat on the Supreme Court that both conservatives and liberals want to fill.
Scalia was a well-known and respected Supreme Court justice with a simple approach to his duties as one of the nation’s highest judges. He felt the Constitution should be interpreted based on its original meaning.

Throughout his tenure, Scalia often reminded other members of the Court that it was necessary to adhere to Constitutional jurisprudence, saying it is crucial the limits of government as well as the political limits of the Court be recognized.
Despite his philosophy and hard work, Scalia’s death could prove a detriment to the Constitution, according to Ben Shapiro, senior editor-at-large for Breitbart News.
The Supreme Court, which prior to Justice Scalia’s death consisted of five justices chosen by Republicans and four chosen by Democrats, is now even.

The concern by Shapiro and others is that President Barack Obama will appoint a new justice who will align himself with the current liberal justices.
Should such a justice be appointed and approved, thinks Shapiro, the liberals will monopolize the Supreme Court decisions.
Within the next few years, Citizens United will be overturned, restoring limits on free speech; the Supreme Court will render the Second Amendment meaningless by reinterpreting the right to bear arms as a non-personal right; freedom of religion will be made subservient to same-sex marriage and abortion priorities; the death penalty will be ruled unconstitutional; unions will be allowed to continue confiscating the dollars of people who disagree with them politically; redistricting along leftist lines will return. Scalia ensured that the Supreme Court wasn’t a transformative institution; now it will become the chief tool in the left’s arsenal.
There are also concerns the welfare of the Constitution may also be significantly affected by the result of the 2016 presidential election.
A liberal majority in the Supreme Court and a Democrat victory in the race for the White House could have catastrophic results on such issues as the Second Amendment, abortion rights and religious freedoms.
