Couple Agrees To Adopt Baby Ducklings, What They Grow into Turns Heads Across Internet
When you think of adding a new critter to your household, your thoughts probably turn to dogs and cats. They’re a time-honored installation in families and almost everyone has met one at some point in their lives.
As you move to the more exotic, you might consider a rabbit, or a guinea pig, or maybe a parakeet. If you’re especially daring, perhaps a snake or a bearded dragon might do the trick.
Most people don’t think of ducks. Ducks are creatures that live in ponds and on farms, not in your neighbor’s backyard.
When a young couple’s acquaintance was “gifted” with two ducklings that she could not care for, they stepped in to help out.
While they probably hadn’t considered becoming duckling parents before, when they saw the two fuzzy little babies, one yellow and one black, they were smitten.
During the first few months of life, while the two were still little balls of fluff, they stayed in the couple’s kitchen.
It makes sense — most kitchen floors are easy to clean up, and the ducklings would be the center of attention.
They were soon moved outside, though, once they got bigger and their dad finished building them a palace outdoors.
But as the ducklings grew up, their surprising personalities began to shine through. They turned into little characters, and have much more verve than your average duck.
Dusty, the yellow duck who grew up into a white duck, has an extra little pouf of feathers, like she’s got a duck bouffant. Apparently, she’s the spunkier of the two and lets her sassy self fly free.
Otter, the darker duck, is a sweetheart and loves cuddling. Both of the ducks are spoiled beyond imagination, and they have their own Facebook page where they entertain their followers daily.
The “house” their dad built for them is really a mansion. It has several compartments, including a built-in pool with professional-looking decking and a cozy little loft full of fresh, clean hay where they can sleep at night.
Every night, their mom checks in on them to make sure they’re not hanging out in the pool too late. Then she puts new hay in their beds and “tucks them in.”
People have questioned whether or not that step is necessary, but she believes it’s crucial. And who wouldn’t? This pair is the bee’s knees.
In many ways, they’re just like any other ducks: they love munching watermelon and Dusty has a penchant for tomatoes. They love wandering around the garden and getting into the mud.
But after watching the video, we think you’ll agree that these two gals are a riot. Who knew ducks could be so personable?
