The Craziest 31-Second Knockout Sequence You Will Ever See

Share

The 1985 bout between Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns is one of the greatest boxing matches of all time due to its back-and-forth, nonstop action over the course of three rounds.

We may have found MMA’s answer to that legendary boxing match, yet this fight barely lasted even 30 seconds.

The Legacy Fighting Alliance is an upstart mixed martial arts organization that was founded in 2017. They held LFA 46 at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Newport News, Virginia, on Friday, and those in attendance were witness to the most insane knockout sequence in a 31-second thrilling fight.

Mumia Abu Dey Ali, in the black and red trunks, started the match with a left-handed shot to Mitch Aguiar’s temple.

That knocked Aguiar to the mat, but remember, this was a 31-second fight not a 3-second fight. Aguiar seemed a little dazed but was able to get up off the mat before Dey Ali could finish him off.

After some missed punches and a missed kick by Dey Ali, Aguiar attempted to take Dey Ali to the mat, to no avail. After some grappling between the two and more wayward punches, Aguiar then caught Dey Ali with a left hand shot of his own to knock him down.

Aguiar had a chance to inflict more damage to Dey Ali but the latter quickly got up when Aguilar anxiously charged at him. That led to an awkward sequence that you might normally expect to see inside a wrestling ring rather than an octagon.

Dey Ali rose to his feet but was bent over briefly, and Aguiar flipped over him unintentionally. That allowed Dey Ali to get to his feet before Aguiar could — and he now had the advantage.

As soon as Aguiar then rose, Dey Ali connected with another left hand that knocked out his opponent. One more punch while Aguiar was flat on his back ended the fight, and Dey Ali (now 3-1) picked up the third win of his young career while Aguiar suffered his first defeat, putting him at 1-1.

That’s three knockdowns and a KO victory, all in the span of 31 seconds. Yet that knockout that ended the fight wasn’t even the most amazing knockout on that LFA card.

Also on the card was a match that ended with a stomp to the gut:

Ahmet Kayretli scored the victory over Shaun Spath with a midsection stomp that produced an audible groan from Spath. It took just one more punch from Kayretli to the prone Spath for the official to stop the match and award the TKO to Kayretli.

However, this result could be temporary as the Unified Rules of MMA state that any kicks to a grounded opponent with a bended leg are banned.

That stomp would certainly seem to qualify as such, so the result could end up as a no contest — which means a likely rematch.
