One of the more common practices of some Black Lives Matter movement members protesting around the nation is to block traffic on key highways or intersections to get as much publicity as possible.
These folks seem to think that the best way to win friends and influence people is to cause thousands of motorists to be stuck in traffic for a few hours.
On Sunday, one motorist in Carbondale, Illinois, wasn’t going to simply sit by and watch protesters who were setting off fireworks stop traffic, so he decided to drive his truck straight through a crowd of protesters who were in his way, KFVS-TV reported.
The motorist drove up to the crowd, got out of his car just long enough to yell “All lives matter, not blacks, all lives,” and then proceeded to drive straight through the crowd of people.
The driver then stopped his car about a block away, which is incredibly baffling. The protesters — who had chased after his car — quickly surrounded him, screaming and chanting.
The driver tried to get out of his truck and was promptly punched in the face by a “peaceful” protester. Then another “peaceful” protester lobbed a smoke bomb into the man’s car, requiring it to be towed away.
Nothing says you don’t like violence like showing up to a protest armed with smoke bombs and firecrackers.
“I think that we saw a manifestation here in this video of not, of not the police and the community having relationship issues, but in fact that the community itself expressing polarized opinions,” explained Carbondale’s human relations commission chair, Jerrold Heinrich. “And I think that that’s something that needs to be addressed more specifically.”
No charges had been filed against anyone in this case.
Perhaps if the Black Live Matters folks wanted to be taken seriously, they would protest in open spaces and away from busy intersections. Angering average Americans just trying to get to work isn’t the best way to convince them that your cause is just.
