AOC Goes to Church, Says World Will End in 12 Years if Dems Don't Get What They Want
There are plenty of strange eschatological religious sects that believe that Armageddon is nigh and our time on earth is limited. I’m not quite sure whether Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thought she was in one of them on Monday, but it could explain why she implied the world was going to end in 12 years if we don’t do something about global warming.
Speaking at Riverside Church in Harlem for Martin Luther King Day, according to Fox News, the self-styled socialist Democrat from the Bronx claimed we had a dozen years to live if we don’t address climate change.
During the event, she called climate change a “generational” issue.
“Millennials and people, you know, Gen Z and all these folks that will come after us are looking up and we’re like: ‘The world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change and your biggest issue is how are we gonna pay for it?'” Ocasio-Cortez said.

She again compared fighting climate change to the Second World War.
“This is the war — like, this is our World War II,” she said.
“I think for younger people, we’re looking at this and we’re like, how are we saying, ‘let’s take it easy,’ when 3,000 Americans died last year? How are we saying let’s take it easy when the Nth person died last year, has died from our cruel and unjust criminal justice system?
“How are we saying, ‘let’s take it easy,’ when the America we’re living in today is so dystopian, with people sleeping in their cars so that they can work a second job without health care, and we’re told to settle down. It’s a fundamental separation between, you know, the fierce urgency of now, the ‘why we can’t wait’ that King spoke of.”
Way to bring it back to King with something that sounds like it came straight out of a Neil Young song. However, the real issue is the 12 years we apparently have left to live on this earth unless we treat global warming as if it were World War II. This isn’t something new from Ocasio-Cortez, either.
“So when we talk about existential threats, the last time we had a really major existential threat to this country was around World War II,” Ocasio-Cortez said during an October event. “And so we’ve been here before and we have a blueprint of doing this before.”
“None of these things are new ideas. What we had was an existential threat in the context of a war. We had a direct existential threat with another nation, this time it was Nazi Germany and the Axis, who explicitly made the United States as an enemy, as an enemy.
“And what we did was that we chose to mobilize our entire economy and industrialized our entire economy and we put hundreds of thousands if not millions of people to work in defending our shores and defending this country. We have to do the same thing in order to get us to 100 percent renewable energy, and that’s just the truth of it.
“It may seem like really big, it may seem really ambitious, it may seem really ‘radical’ as us people like to say,” she continued. “But the fact of the matter is we are dealing with a radical truth and a radical reality, and the more we choose to ignore it the worse we are doing by our children, and our grandchildren, and frankly ourselves in this lifetime.”
This isn’t idle talk, either.
If Ocasio-Cortez had her way, her “Green New Deal” would turn the United States into a command economy not dissimilar from World War II in order to stop global warming.
Her reasoning for this is simple, based on her speech Monday:
If you believe we only have 12 years left on this earth if we don’t do what Ocasio-Cortez and the Democrats want, you would be totally willing to put us on wartime footing to fight this chimerical threat.
But no sane person believes that. Back in 2006, Rush LImbaugh got a big laugh out of former Vice President Al Gore’s prediction that humanity had 10 years to save the planet. (Gore’s Armegeddon will have passed three years ago come Jan. 27, we’re all still here.)
This is why we’re saying “let’s take it easy” — because her plan would cost millions of jobs and an untold amount of money to carry out, all to prevent 0.14 degrees of warming at the very worst.
This is why people, including this millennial, aren’t willing to follow Ocasio-Cortez off a cliff.
