AOC Thinks Climate Change Will Kill Us All, But Used 26 Cars in a Single Day

Share

Barack Obama had “Yes We Can.” Donald Trump has “Make America Great Again.”

And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just might have a new slogan to sum up her politics: “Do As We Say, Not As We Do!”

The self-proclaimed democratic socialist congresswoman from New York has only been in office for two months, but is already tripping over herself at nearly every turn. Not long ago, she was widely mocked by even her own party after a half-baked “Green New Deal” and her staff’s plans to combat flatulating cows were released to the public.

But Ocasio-Cortez was only getting warmed up. Just weeks ago, the lawmaker went off the deep end by declaring that the end of the world was near unless — what else? — America rallied behind far-left legislation on global warming.

“The world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change,” the youngest person in Congress declared.

She then compared the need for expensive environmental regulations to America fighting Nazis in World War Two and suggested that it might be wrong to have children. Yes, really.

Her own Green New Deal demanded that America “totally overhaul transportation … with goal to replace every combustion-engine vehicle,” according to the New York Post.

Should Ocasio-Cortez be held to the same "green" standards she wants forced on everyone else?

It looks like even she doesn’t believe her own alarmist rhetoric, however.

The fire-and-brimstone talk may have gained attention, but behind the scenes Ocasio-Cortez and her staff seem to have no problem running around in gas-guzzling vehicles while lecturing the nation about its energy usage.

A scathing report from the Post is calling out the far-left politician for repeatedly eschewing green-friendly transit options in favor of the same pollution-heavy cars that she claims to despise.

“Since declaring her candidacy in May 2017, Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign heavily relied on those combustion-engine cars — even though a subway station was just 138 feet from her Elmhurst campaign office,” the newspaper pointed out.

Journalists poured over public campaign finance records to compare Ocasio-Cortez’s spending on transportation to other candidates in the same city.

The results were stunning.

“She listed 1,049 transactions for Uber, Lyft, Juno and other car services, federal filings show. The campaign had 505 Uber expenses alone,” the Post reported. “In all, Ocasio-Cortez spent $29,365.70 on those emissions-spewing vehicles, along with car and van rentals — even though her Queens HQ was a one-minute walk to the 7 train.”

But that could just be part of the reality of trying to campaign and legislate in New York City, right?

Wrong. When the newspaper looked at freshman Rep. Max Rose’s campaign receipts for the same general location, there was a staggering difference. Ocasio-Cortez’s team appeared to rely on green-unfriendly car hires nearly five times as much.

Rose “listed only 329 transactions for car services, totaling $6,091.29,” the newspaper found. Compare that number to $29,365.70 — and that’s despite his New York City district being more than twice as large as Ocasio-Cortez’s.

The socialist’s constant use of cars went far beyond just grabbing an Uber once in a while.

In one instance, her and her staff rode around in over two dozen different vehicles — in one day alone.

“On Oct. 12, 2018, the campaign logged 26 car-service transactions, its highest number in a single day, as Ocasio-Cortez shuttled between the Bronx and Queens for ‘phone banking,'” the Post reported.

Maybe somebody should tell her that phones are wireless now.

Meanwhile, the virtual doomsday clock on her 12-year “end of the world” prediction continues to tick. Once again, a politician has been exposed for who they really are: a hypocrite who only wants votes and power while spewing whatever nonsense will get them attention.

This kind of two-facedness is sadly unsurprising. The real shock is that a 110,318 American voters actually fell for it.
