A Florida father is being hailed as a hero this week after foiling an alleged attempted kidnapping of his 17-year-old daughter by putting his Second Amendment rights to very effective use.
Four teenagers — Keilon Johnson, 19, Austin French, 17, Tyree Johnson, 16, and Kamauri Horn, 15 — had reportedly armed themselves with guns, a knife and a roll of tape and set up makeshift roadblock near the intended victim’s home Wednesday night in Baker, a Florida Panhandle community.
Their original goal, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, was to force the girl out of her vehicle when she stopped. However, when she drove around the barrels and called her father, the perps changed their plans.

The four headed to the family’s home with intentions of robbing it, but the 51-year-old dad was ready for trouble.
He reportedly heard his dogs barking and what sounded like someone breaking into his car when he got his gun to investigate.
What he found was the suspects trying to break into his garage.

“He fired three shots and the intruders fled into the woods,” the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies were called to the scene about 10:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office reported.
The homeowner later discovered that some security lights at his home had been unscrewed.
A neighbor who had seen a suspicious car in the area around the same time called in a description of the vehicle to law enforcement.
A short time later, sheriff deputies spotted the suspects in the described 2016 white Jeep Liberty and made a traffic stop.

All four teenagers were charged with attempted kidnapping and attempted home invasion robbery.
The 19-year-old was booked into the Okaloosa County jail, while the other defendants were taken to Florida Department of Juvenile Justice facility due to their ages.
Under Florida law, kidnapping and armed home invasion are first-degree felonies.
Hopefully, these criminals will be punished to the fullest extent for their elaborate plan to do harm to this family.

This incident further proves why the Second Amendment is so important. If this man had not been armed, these criminals almost certainly would have been able to pull off their elaborate plan to rob the home and kidnap the girl.
It’s the ultimate proof that a “good guy with a gun” is the best deterrent to criminals.
