On Monday, a Russian Su-27 jet armed with missiles came within five feet of an American reconnaissance plane that was conducting a routine flight over the Baltic sea, Fox News reported.
The fighter jet approached the American aircraft “rapidly,” and once it was close to it continued to act “erratically.” There have been dozens of these encounters between the Russians and Americans over the past few months, and the Russians don’t seem to have intentions of stopping.

One wrong move and the planes could have collided, potentially sparking a serious situation between Russia and the United States that could have escalated into a military conflict.
This latest encounter comes on the heels of the Russians stating that they would “target” any coalition aircraft that was flying west of the Euphrates River in Syria, The New York Times reported.
The most recent encounter between the Russian and the Americans before this incident occurred on June 6 when the Russians scrambled fighter jets to “escort” an American B-52 that was flying in international airspace over the Baltic sea, The Washington Post reported

The United States needs to make it clear that this sort of harassment on the part of the Russians won’t be tolerated.
