A man in South Africa confessed to cannibalism last week after he placed a severed human hand and leg on the counter of a police station and uttered six words that had have chilled the spine of everyone who heard it:
“I’m tired of eating human flesh,” the man said.
According to The Associated Press, five people have been arrested and charged in connection to the cannibalism case since Friday, but roughly 300 in the town of Estcourt in KwaZulu-Natal province have admitted to eating human body parts.

Four of the people accused of eating human meat — Nino Mbatha, 32, Lungisani Magubane, 30, Sthembiso Sithole, 31, and Lindokuhle Masondo, 32 — appeared in court Monday for their hearing.
Local outlet News24 reports some of the individuals arrested reportedly raped one woman before killing her and eating her body.
“This has happened within our community,” Ward Councillor Mthembeni Majola of Estcourt, South Africa, told News24.

“Families, people we know and live with have now confessed to eating this woman,” Majola said.
She added: “We don’t know what to do or who to trust.”
Majola held a meeting with around 700 residents Monday at the Esigodlweni community hall, where she said roughly 300 residents confessed to knowingly consuming human meat that one of the suspects gave them.
Majola said several community members allegedly admitted they were ordered by Mbatha to dig up graves and bring him the bones.
Police officers are often forced to deal with a wide variety of disturbing situations in order to protect their communities, but this particular case should shock even the most hardened cop.

And those six chilling words the suspect spoke will probably linger in nightmares for decades.
