Ben Shapiro Says He's Uncovered Proof Samantha Bee's Apology Was 'Utterly Fake'

There’s a double standard permeating American culture… and incredibly, it looks like liberals are hardly trying to even conceal it.

Over the past week, two similar controversies emerged from the entertainment world, with two very different consequences.

The first was a mean and poor-taste tweet from comedian Roseanne Barr, which tried to mock Obama administration insider Valerie Jarrett based on her looks.

It was a terrible idea from the beginning, and as accusations of racism grew, Roseanne issued what seemed to be a genuine apology for the disastrous joke. But it was too late: The comedian’s eponymous show was dropped like a hot potato, and she became persona non grata in Hollywood overnight.

Another controversy from a different comedian received far less attention, however.

Liberal comedian Samantha Bee decided to attack Ivanka Trump after the president’s daughter posted an innocent photo of herself with her child. In a scripted, recorded, and broadcast segment of her show, Bee called Ivanka a “feckless c***,” invoking one of the most crass curse words aimed at women.

Ah, modern feminism.

Like Roseanne, Samantha Bee issued an apology following the backlash to her rant, even though her insult was clearly planned and scripted while the Jarrett jab was off the cuff.

As conservative pundit Ben Shapiro pointed out, however, Bee’s apology seemed to be only for show. Statements she made at a closed-door awards ceremony hint at how disingenuous it was, and prove that the liberal comedian had no problem with her crass attack after all.

Do you believe a double standard is happening in entertainment?

“The evening after apologizing her calling Ivanka Trump a ‘feckless c***’ and asking her to seduce her own father to change immigration policy, TBS’ Samantha Bee demonstrated wholeheartedly that her apology was meaningless,” Shapiro wrote in The Daily Wire.

During a Thursday night appearance that wasn’t meant to be seen by the public, Bee shrugged off the “one bad word” she had used against Ivanka, but doubled down on blaming the first daughter for the country’s political issues.

“I take it seriously when I get it right and I do take responsibility when I get it wrong … we spent the day wrestling with the repercussions of one bad word, when we all should have spent the day incensed that as a nation we are wrenching children from their parents and treating people legally seeking asylum as criminals,” Bee declared in a speech that leaked to the media.

This looks very much like Bee is annoyed at having to apologize, and sees the outrage from her c-word usage as just a distraction getting in the way of attacking Ivanka more.

“So, in other words, she was sorry she used the bad word but only because it undermined her larger point, which was that Ivanka Trump was a ‘feckless c***’ who should have seduced her father to change immigration policy,” Shapiro pointed out.

It’s the classic attitude from so many children: I’m sorry I got caught, not sorry I did it.

“It’s obvious that our societal acceptance of apologies varies based on the target,” Shapiro continued. “Roseanne apologized; nobody cared. Bee apologized; everybody basically nodded along.”

We’ve seen the same double standard before. A CNBC and CNN host previously called the president of United States a “monkey” on live television; she was promoted. Commentator Bill Maher called Donald Trump a bastardy orangutan; liberals cheered.

In the end, the two-facedness and fake apologies from the left are sadly not surprising. What is surprising, however, is that they think they can get away with it without the American people noticing.
