While rappers usually exemplify everything wrong with the world, one rapper from Miami has reportedly bucked the trend by jumping behind Education Secretary Betsy DeVos’ push to promote school choice.
Rapper Pitbull, aka Armando Christian Pérez, joined DeVos at the Sports Leadership and Management Academy public charter school in Miami on Thursday to congratulate the students for being pioneers in education, according to the Miami Herald.
“I know that many of you are blazing the trails in your family and showing what can be done if you’re just given the opportunity,” DeVos told them. “I want to encourage you, encourage you in your studies, encourage you to continue to pursue the passion that is inside of you, whatever that may be.”

Here’s the stunning catch: The reason those students were able to be trailblazers was because of Pitbull, who helped found the academy in 2013 — as well as two other academies in West Palm Beach and Nevada, according to Education Week.

That’s right, folks: Unlike his thuggish peers in the rap industry, Pitbull actually cares about the children — enough so that that he has become both a school choice advocate and parent, with three of his six children reportedly attending charter schools.

In fact, four years ago the rapper even participated in the National Charter School Conference in Washington, delivering a speech touting the benefits of school choice.
“Every day I see firsthand how my children are becoming highly motivated thanks to the charter schools they attend,” the rapper said, according to The Daily Caller. Charter schools, he said, are “fundamentally about freedom, and freedom is what America is all about.”
While Pitbull’s fellow rappers, most of them shameless degenerates, could certainly learn a lot from him, the truth is that many of the sanctimonious liberal Democrats who purport to care about children could learn a great deal as well.
Ever since she was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as the education secretary, DeVos has been inundated with nonstop criticism from liberals for being “bad for education.” Yet the scorching commentary against her is based on little more than liberals’ innate contempt for school choice — and Democrat politicians’ slavish devotion to teachers unions.

If critics were to simply open their eyes and give school choice a chance, they may very well wind up liking it, especially once they meet some of its trailblazing beneficiaries.
