For the past few years, liberals have escalated their war on free speech on college campuses to unprecedented levels. Nowadays, even the idea of having a speaker on a college campus who isn’t a card-carrying leftist lunatic is enough to trigger riots.
The University of California, Berkeley has become synonymous with this sort of restriction of free speech. Most recently, Berkeley “disinvited” conservative commentator Ann Coulter from speaking at the campus, something TV host Bill Maher got very upset over, The Daily Caller reported.
Maher, who is well to the left of center, challenged the university on “Real Time” for trying to coddle its students by refusing to expose them to different viewpoints.

“Berkeley used to be the cradle of free speech. And now it’s just the cradle for f***ing babies,” he stated.
It’s also a cradle for violent leftists who will riot, burn buildings and attack police officers if they don’t get their way. That’s what colleges in this country have become.
“I feel like this goes on all over the country on campuses. They invite somebody to speak that’s not exactly what liberals want to hear and they want to shut her down,” Maher said to applause from his audience. “I feel like this is the liberals’ version of book burning. And it’s got to stop.”

You can watch Maher’s remarks here (WARNING: strong language):
Maher was absolutely right. Even though we might not agree with his politics, we recognize that he has a right to express his views, just as Coulter has a right to express hers — and once in a while his views line up with ours, more or less by accident.
These safe-space-loving liberals are going to be in for a nasty shock when they leave their sheltered campuses and are thrown into the real world. Out here, there are no safe spaces.
Colleges are turning the next generation into a bunch of spineless wimps who are so afraid of having their ideas challenged that they would rather go on a violent rampage than sit in a classroom and listen to someone talk.
