Border Agents Pull Over Trailer, Find 76 Reasons Why We Need a Wall

Share

It’s no secret that one of the biggest platforms Trump ran on while campaigning was the building of the wall between the United States and Mexico. There’s good reason, too, why this promise resonated with so many voters. Illegal immigration is a very real problem that a majority of American’s are tired of.

Now, in a recent news release by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, we’re seeing exactly how bad this problem is.

On Jan. 26, agents based out of Laredo, Texas, stopped a tractor-trailer at a Border Patrol checkpoint.

The agents proceeded to question the driver’s immigration status, who turned out to be an American citizen. But everything changed when agents opened the trailer.

Inside, agents found 76 illegal immigrants from Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala. The news release said those found in the trailer were all in good health — which isn’t always the case for those being trafficked.

The agents eventually arrested the driver and seized the tractor-trailer.

The incident highlights how many illegal immigrants are brought to the United States by human trafficking rings — often under extremely dangerous conditions.

Laredo Sector Assistant Chief Patrol Agent Gabriel Acosta said, “These criminal organizations view these individuals as mere commodities without regard for their safety. The blatant disregard for human life will not be tolerated. We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to disrupt and dismantle these organizations and prosecute those responsible.”

That’s really good to hear. The way humans are being trafficked across the border is reprehensible.

Do you think the wall should be built ASAP?

The news release continued to say that the agents aren’t going put up with this illegal immigration. In fact, it’s not just dangerous for US citizens, but for those crossing as well.

It states, “The Laredo Sector Border Patrol will continue to warn against the dangers of people crossing illegally into the United States through dangerous environmental conditions.”

Additionally, “Our Border Safety Initiative (BSI) is a humanitarian, bi-national strategy designed to reduce illegal alien deaths, educate and inform potential illegal aliens of the dangers and hazards of crossing the border illegally, and to respond to those who are in life-threatening situations.”

It’s always good to hear stories like this. Without the border wall Trump has proposed, stopping illegal immigration is like stopping a flood. But even small victories like this are good to see.

The American people overwhelmingly want the illegal immigration problem fixed. In fact, in a CBS poll taken Tuesday night, 72 percent of the viewers who watched President Trump’s State of the Union speech agree with his immigration policies.

One of those policies is to build the wall.

In fact, Steve Cortes, who is on President Trump’s Hispanic Advisory Council, saw this report and echoed the president’s call to build the wall.

Thank God we have amazing Border Patrol agents who are great at their jobs. Now, if Congress can help them out by funding the wall, maybe we can put a stop to this flood of illegal immigration — and stop this human trafficking across the border as well.
