To the delight of millions and the surprise of no one, Donald Trump has “trumped” his fellow Republican candidates again this week.
In a new CNN/ORC poll released on Friday, Trump surged in the polls with a massive 20-point lead. The latest data showed Trump in a clear first place, with 36 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents backing him.
According to CNN, the field narrows behind Trump with Texas Sen, Ted Cruz receiving 16 percent, former neurosurgeon Ben Carson with 14 percent, and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio at 12 percent. The remaining candidates received less than 5 percent of the votes each.

While his fellow candidates have slid in the polls with Carson down eight points and Gov. Jeb Bush down five, Trump has gained nine points since the last CNN/ORC poll in October.
Cruz and Rubio also benefited from the other candidates’ misfortune as Cruz is up 12 points and Rubio up four.
After several weeks of riding neck-and-neck at the top of the polls with Carson, Trump has pulled away from the field and secured a solid lead. The poll also notably gave Trump the widest lead since he announced his presidential bid in June.

These recent numbers demonstrate voter confidence in Trump with the issues that are of utmost importance to them. Trump’s margins grow as Republicans believe he is the most trusted candidate to handle illegal immigration with a 34-point lead, the economy with a 46-point lead and the Islamic State group with a 31-point spread.
Overall, poll data indicated that Republicans are more eager and willing to vote in the 2016 election than their Democrat counterparts as well, which bodes well for whichever Republican candidate wins the nomination.
The poll was conducted Nov. 27 through Dec. 1 via telephone among a random sampling of Republicans and independents who lean toward the Republican Party.
