Did You Catch 'SNL's Brutal, Sidesplitting Skit on Virginia Democrats Over the Weekend?

Color me pleasantly surprised.

For a show that used to be genuinely humorous, it’s been a little sad to see “Saturday Night Live” turn into a hot mess that regurgitates leftist nonsense and is just generally unfunny.

Given that, even a blind squirrel is right twice a day (or something like that.)

“SNL” produced a skit over the weekend taking direct aim at the blackface scandal that has rocked Virginia Democrats and Gov. Ralph Northam.

Stunningly, the skit was actually kind of funny! I laughed, which is a marked improvement over the exaggerated eye rolls I tend to give “SNL” skits these days.

The premise of the skit featured a black ethics committee chairman trying to convince a room full of white government officials to come clean on any prior uses of blackface and how it’s unacceptable under any circumstance.

Obviously, things go awry as the officials seems unable to grasp how something considered innocuous from the 1980s is offensive today.

Now, to be fair, humor is a fairly subjective thing so if you find that skit unfunny, it is what it is.

Did you think this was funny?

But whether you loved or hated the skit, the greater point it illustrates is the perfect example of how destructive leftist reasoning is.

As the government officials in the skit point out, blackface in the ’80s wasn’t exactly controversial. They struggle to understand why and find it unfair to judge yesterday’s actions by today’s standards.

And they’re right!

Far be it for me to ever even come off as trying to defend Northam, who is a textbook leftist loon, but he is very much the victim of his own party’s asinine ideological policies.

Judging past actions by current standards is inane, particularly when it’s based on the whims of a vocal subset.

Accusing someone for crossing a line that moves is inherently unfair.

It’s also the best route to follow to get to the “slippery slope” the left seems so intent dragging the United States down. It’s more than a little ironic that it’s coming to bite them in the rear.

The problem with the leftist line of thinking, especially when it comes to using relative morality to judge past actions, is the the end result.

Ultimately, everyone will be guilty of something based on a certain period’s set of rules.

Even when that comes back to haunt the left, that is a world I have no interest in being a part of.
