Though Americans seem to be drifting farther and farther apart from each other, there are still some courageous patriots, like Charlie Daniels, who are trying to bring us back together.
In a recent op-ed for CNS News, Daniels expressed concern for where America is headed and called out Americans for not being willing to listen to each other anymore.
“I think our forefathers designed our government to make it possible for both sides of an issue to be heard, but look how far that concept has fallen, with congressional leaders not even allowing legislation they disagree with to even get to the floor for debate,” he wrote.

“It seems, today, instead of engaging in two-sided conversations and attempts to understand each other, we tend to label and lump all those who disagree with us into categories we consider to be mentally inferior to us, considering anything they say to be out of step, off the wall or just plain stupid,” he continued.
Daniels certainly is spot on with that one. It seems that if you don’t agree with what someone says anymore, you are simply ignored and told that you don’t know what you’re talking about.
“People who consider themselves our intellectual betters, those who spout ideological condescension and know beyond a shadow of a doubt what is good for us, rarely have the foresight to consider what the ramifications of their actions would be, and they consider it an insult to their superior intellect when called on it,” wrote Daniels.

Daniels also called out the media for trying to stir the pot of hatred in America rather than find solutions to the problems facing all of us.
Daniels listed several examples, such as aborition, as topics about which if you disagree with a liberal they simply scream at you and refuse to hear your point of view.
“It has digressed to the point that so many people are able to tell you that you’re an idiot, racist, backward-thinking, bigoted misogynist, but for the life of them, they can’t tell you why they feel that way,” he wrote.
“Preconditioned ideas, without reason, are a dangerous thing,” he concluded.
If only more people would listen to reason like this, then maybe our country would be headed in a better direction that it is right now.
