Chick-fil-A Gives Back to First Responders After Deadly Shooting Takes Colorado Officer

Share

Chick-fil-A is the restaurant chain liberals love to hate. The Christian-owned fast food restaurants are frequent targets for protests and rude behavior by the left, who of course never acknowledge their ironic intolerance of other people’s religious beliefs in the process.

The chain has repeatedly put its critics to shame by stepping up and helping people during tough times… and that’s exactly what one Chick-fil-A restaurant did after a fatal shooting shook a Colorado community.

“With heavy hearts and lots of community support, three Douglas County, Jefferson County and other county officers are helping with food 400 sandwiches for the first responders,” posted Chick-fil-A Park Meadows’ Facebook page on Sunday.

“Our prayers are with all that serve and their families,” the restaurant continued.

Chick-fil-A locations are normally closed throughout the country on Sundays to respect the Christian day of rest and give employees the opportunity to attend church, but there was a very good reason for the special event. Several police officers in Douglas County, Colorado had been ambushed that morning… and one member of “the thin blue line” did not survive.

“On Sunday morning, 29-year-old Zackari Parrish of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was killed while responding to a domestic violence call at a housing complex,” reported Rare News.

“The sheriff’s department called the shooting an ‘ambush’ style attack, and the assailant reportedly fired over 100 rounds before being killed by police,” that news source continued.

“Deputy Parrish was a member of the force for only seven months before giving his life in the line of duty and previously served with another department. He reportedly said that becoming a police officer was ‘a childhood dream that [he] never thought would become a reality.'”

The young officer was married and had two daughters. Other officers were injured during the ambush, as well.

Serving first responders during a time of sadness and crisis is not the first time Chick-fil-A has stepped up to help others.

“They also welcomed customers on Dec. 17, when the power went down in the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, leaving thousands stranded,” explained Rare.

“During that incident, the restaurant released a statement saying that they were answering the mayor’s call for help. They also noted, ‘[W]hile Chick-fil-A is always closed on Sunday, our restaurants open occasionally to serve communities in need.'”

“‘We do not make a profit, but do what we can to offer comfort to people experiencing hardship,'” the restaurant said at the time.

In another case of supporting America’s men and women in uniform, a different Chick-fil-A restaurant earned the thanks of deployed American troops when it surprised military members with a free supply of sauces to boost morale.

This is the side of America that so many on the left refuse to acknowledge: Believing in faith, but not using it to chastise others. Being part of the community, and rising to the occasion when the nation’s bravest heroes fall.

Those heartland values have been sorely missing in many places. Thankfully, it looks like not everyone has forgotten what serving truly looks like.
