Christian Doctor Fired After Saying He Wouldn't Call a Bearded Man 'Madam'

Share

The thought police have ended the career of yet another individual.

According to Yahoo News, a Christian doctor in the United Kingdom was fired from a government department last year after it was discovered that he wouldn’t call a large, bearded man “madam,” should the opportunity ever arise.

You read that correctly — Dr. David Mackereth was fired over his answer to a hypothetical question, not an actual incident.

Mackereth, a disability benefits assessor at the Department of Work and Pensions, stated that his line manager posed a question to him about gender pronouns in June of 2018.

The manager asked Mackereth, “If you have a man six foot tall with a beard who says he wants to be addressed as ‘she’ and ‘Mrs’, would you do that?”

The doctor firmly stated that he would not, in fact, address a biological male as a woman, citing scientific fact and his religious beliefs.

The answer was apparently not the one his employer was looking for, which caused him to be suspended and ultimately dismissed.

Mackereth claims he was canned from his job “not because of any realistic concerns over the rights and sensitivities of transgender individuals, but because of my refusal to make an abstract ideological pledge.”

Now, the doctor is standing up for free expression and suing the government for religious discrimination through an employment tribunal.

Do you think Mackereth was wrongfully fired?

During the initial court hearings, Mackereth stated that his boss “interrogated” him before he was let go. He then ripped into the U.K. government’s absurd progressive ideologies and blatant hypocrisy.

“The very fact a doctor can be pulled of the shop floor for an urgent interrogation about his beliefs on gender fluidity is both absurd and very sinister, even more so if it results in a dismissal,” Mackereth said.

“If something like that happened in a church setting — people being pulled out of a pew, questioned, and then excommunicated — that would be seen as an outrageous example of religious intolerance and bigotry,” he said.

Later on, Mackereth — a classically-trained theologian — addressed his thoughts on the transgender issue specifically and said that he is “aware that there are men or women who believe they have been trapped in a wrong body,” but that it shouldn’t be normalized by society.

“A small number of such people have always existed,” he explained. “Up until recently, such a belief was considered by medics to be delusional and a symptom of a medical disorder.”

“It is only recently that transgenderism has been recognised as normal and such delusional beliefs accepted at face value. What is responsible for that change is political pressure, not scientific evidence,” the doctor concluded.

Does no one in his governmental department realize that Mackereth is a doctor? That means he’s undergone years of study of biology, genetics, and the human body. The man knows what he’s talking about.

If there is anyone the left should be listening to when it comes to transgenderism, it should be a person with strong credentials like those of Dr. Mackereth and not college-aged kids who plan on majoring in something like “lesbian dance theory.”

At the very least, he certainly shouldn’t be punished for holding beliefs that happen to run counter to the LGBT movement.

But perhaps the “party of science” will continue to cherry-pick the science it wants, labeling the parts which fail to further its agenda as “sexist” or “homophobic.”
