City OKs Teaching That Boys Can Have Periods, 'Menstruation Must Be Inclusive of All Genders'

A small city in the United Kingdom has found itself at the center of the transgender debate, and is raising questions about sweeping changes that could come to America next.

Brighton and Hove in southeast England is making headlines after its city council approved school curriculum which teaches kids that boys can have periods. According to The Telegraph, the transgender-inclusive language could impact everything from sex-ed classes to how bathrooms are handled.

“Trans boys and men and non-binary people may have periods,” the city council wrote. “Menstruation must be inclusive of all genders.”

“Language and learning about periods is inclusive of all genders, cultures, faiths and sexual orientations,” the council declared. “For example; ‘girls and women and others who have periods.'”

“We believe that it’s important for all genders to be able to learn and talk about menstruation together… Our approach recognizes the fact that some people who have periods are trans or non-binary,” the city’s leaders continued.

But the city’s rush to embrace transgender narratives didn’t stop there. In a “Trans Inclusion Schools Toolkit” released to educators by the council, teachers were told how to deal with transitioning children and ominously warned them that using the wrong pronoun was “harassment.”

Not everybody was okay with the announcement, however. Conservative politicians in the UK called out the council as the latest example in a string of head-scratching decisions.

“Latest example of barking mad trans-activism comes from Brighton (surprise surprise) where 8 year-old pupils will be told ‘boys can have periods too’ under new sex education guidelines,” conservative Member of Parliament David Davies posted on Twitter.

“Learning about periods is already a difficult subject for children that age, so to throw in the idea girls who believe they are boys also have periods will leave them completely confused,” he added in a comment to The Daily Mail.

Do you think this change will make its way to American public schools?

“The change to sex-ed instructions is being lauded by transgender rights and gender equality advocates,” summarized Newsweek. “But conservative critics said the guidelines were ‘deliberately confusing’ to children.”

In a case of the left turning on itself, feminist activist Julie Bindel pointed out that the decision to push transgender curriculum was actually bad for women. “To tell impressionable children that boys can also menstruate sidelines girls who should be getting support when they start their periods,” she said to The Mail.

Here’s a question that needs to be asked: Where does it end? How far will the left demand that society twist itself in order to accommodate ever-changing views of political correctness?

More and more, it looks like the push to tear down traditional society is just getting started. Words and facts matter, but even these are becoming muddled in the strange culture war of 2018.
