Global warming proponents frequently point to record temperatures in the summer as proof of their claims. Conveniently, however, they stay surprisingly silent when it’s winter that brings near-record lows.
That’s exactly what New York is bracing for this weekend, as meteorologists forecast colder-than-normal temperatures for the famous Times Square ball drop celebrations.
“A severe blast of Arctic air has descended on the New York City region and temperatures will stay below the freezing mark around the clock for the rest of the year,” reported WNYW News.

“On New Year’s Eve, the temperature is expected to drop to around 12 degrees, about 12 degrees below normal and one of the coldest on record,” the station continued.
That cold snap is so dramatic that officials are warning residents and revelers that the weather could become dangerous.

“New York City Emergency Management officials issued an extreme cold weather alert starting on Tuesday afternoon encouraging New Yorkers to stay indoors as much as possible,” explained the New York television station.
“They warned that prolonged exposure to cold can contribute to health problems such as hypothermia, frostbite, and exacerbation of chronic heart and lung conditions.”

Of course, it shouldn’t be particularly surprising that winter in New York can get cold. We used to call this “weather,” but it’s interesting to compare the words used when cold weather is reported, versus the narratives parroted during hot spells.
The words “climate change” are nowhere in the cold weather report from WNYW or other major sources, such as AccuWeather and The Weather Channel. It’s reported in a straightforward fashion: It’s going to get cold, because weather has its ups and downs. Bundle up.
Compare that to how a recent heat wave was described this past summer. Instead of merely giving the forecast and moving on, outlets were all too eager to link three days of hot weather to diabolical climate change.
“[Scientists] looked at how global warming impacts three-day heat waves such as the warm front in early August that was nicknamed ‘Lucifer,’” declared The Weather Channel in September.
“By the middle of the century, this will be normal weather,” The Weather Channel continued. “Climate change is impacting communities right now.”

Do you see the trick? The same media outlets that are peddling climate change gloom the moment the thermometer rises in the summer go out of their way to avoid the topic when icicles arrive. The narrative changes depending on the circumstances.
If the media — including “infotainment” sources like television meteorologists — were honest, they would admit that climate trends are measured in centuries and millennia.
They would admit that we have almost no data in the grand scheme of things, and most of the global warming alarmism is based on models that can be made to say almost anything by tweaking a few values here or there.
In the end, they would be forced to admit that a short-term swing, whether it’s a hot year or a cold weekend, is just plain ol’ weather.

But that would mean they couldn’t push dramatic-sounding headlines about “diablo” and global warming… and might have to get real jobs when people notice all the strings that are being pulled to push an agenda.
