Colbert Thinks Trump's a 'Racist,' Conveniently Forgets Racist Segment on His Own Show

Share

After Sen.Elizabeth Warren’s DNA results failed to convince the nation of anything except her dishonesty, late night host Stephen Colbert tried to flip the script back to President Donald Trump.

Warren claimed victory in Trump’s challenge earlier this week, releasing a DNA test that listed a possible Native ancestor as far back as 10 generations. Despite this thin connection, Warren believes she meets the requirements of Trump’s challenge over the summer that he would give $1 million to charity if Warren took a DNA test and “it shows you’re an Indian.”

(On Monday, Warren told Trump to make the check out to the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center.)

Instead of making his humor relevant and fun, Colbert aired the clip of Trump suggesting Warren take a DNA test and labeled it a “racist tirade.”

Colbert missed obvious comedic material to make that “joke.”

Warren’s claims have been shredded across social media, with even the Cherokee Nation speaking out against her.

Colbert’s anti-Trump strategy doesn’t appear to be paying off, either. Despite the 645,000 followers on “The Late Show’s” Twitter account, the rant only racked up a few hundred retweets.

Twitter users were quick to react to the footage. Many called Colbert out on giving Warren a free pass, using the opportunity for another stale attack of the president.

Stephen Colbert doesn’t exactly have a squeaky-clean record himself when it comes to racism.

A recurring bit on his former show, “The Colbert Report,” involved Colbert’s “black friend Alan,” a connection he would bring up while talking about racial issues.

Granted, Colbert was impersonating a caricature of a right-wing conservative at the time, so it was a form of political mockery, but the fact is, Colbert was using a black man as a prop to make a joke about race — something liberals consider verboten these days.

And that’s not Colbert’s only brush with what he and every other progressive in America would likely call “racism” if it came from the right.

Do you think Stephen Colbert is a hypocrite?

The late night host also caught flak in 2014 for another “Colbert Report” gag — this one a tweet on the show’s verified Twitter account about the made-up charity “Ching Chong Ding Dong Foundation for Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever.”

According to USA Today, Colbert issued a statement saying he did not personally write the tweet and “was unaware who did.” But that was after the hashtag #CancelColbert began to trend. The tweet was, of course, removed.

Race isn’t the only line Colbert is willing to cross in the name of “comedy,” either.

In a rant insulting Trump in May 2017, Colbert implied a homosexual relationship between the president and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

In the process, Colbert uttered a disgusting line — one that liberals would hysterically label “homophobia” if a conservative had said it.

The hashtage #FireColbert spread like wildfire across Twitter. Critics called for his removal over the bit, which they saw as insulting to the gay and lesbian community.

With “jokes” this spiteful, it’s a wonder Colbert has any remaining viewers at all.
