Cop Who Attacks Nurse Gets “Justice”… And We Are Absolutely Furious

The Utah police officer who forcibly manhandled and arrested a nurse last week for rightly refusing to provide him with a suspect’s blood without the suspect’s consent — and without a warrant, to boot — has been terminated from his job, but not his job with the Salt Lake City Police Department.

Instead he has been terminated from Gold Cross Ambulance, a patient transport company where he had worked as a part-time ambulance driver, as reported by the Associated Press.

In explaining why he chose to fire Detective Jeff Payne, Gold Cross Ambulance president Mike Moffitt reportedly pointed to disturbing remarks the thug officer made following his arrest of University of Utah Hospital nurse Alex Wubbles.

“That’s not the way we conduct our business, that’s not the way we treat people in our city,” Moffitt said.

In stunning body camera video footage published by the media last week, Payne could be seen standing in the hospital parking lot following Wubbles’ arrest, bragging to a fellow officer how he planned to seek revenge by using his job as an ambulance driver to transport “good patients” to another facility.

“I’ll bring them all the transients and take good patients elsewhere,” he said.

There’s no question that Moffitt made the right decision. However, the same cannot be said about the Salt Lake City Police Department, which continues to keep Payne on its payroll, albeit on administrative leave “pending an internal investigation and another probe by the city’s civilian review board,” according to The Salt Lake Tribune.

But what on earth is there to review? Payne roughed up a nurse in an attempt to force her to violate the law — and all of it was filmed on camera.

Nearly 100 protesters rallied outside the police department’s headquarters Saturday, demanding that Payne be fired.

While we rarely agree with anti-police demonstrators, who for the most part are usually cop-hating thugs, in this case they had a valid point. In fact, the evidence makes it clear that Detective Jeff Payne is himself a criminal thug no different than the likes of Mike Brown.

As noted by conservative commentator Ben Shapiro for The Daily Wire last week, “The balance between freedom and order can only be maintained by properly-acting police. That’s why Wubbels should be celebrated here, and Payne should obviously lose his job.”

The sooner, the better.
