Look: Cops Have Fun as They Mourn the Mass Loss of Krispy Kreme Donuts

Share

Cops and donuts. The pairing is an iconic part of American pop culture.

Some Kentucky police officers recently showed their humorous side when something sad happened to a cargo Krispy Kreme donuts.

The incident took place on New Year’s Eve when the driver of a Krispy Kreme donut truck noticed his vehicle was smoking and called 911 from the road, according to Fox News.

The driver was able to escape unharmed, but a fire that engulfed the truck took out the treats. And the Lexington, Kentucky, cops felt the loss.

The reaction made headlines all over.

Cops from overseas saw the officers’ tweet and joined in on the joking and pun fun. Some of our friends across the pond were quick to send their condolences and support:

Police from around the United States also showed off their sympathetic side, chiming in with support. Some used GIFs that summed up their reaction to the news quite well.

One police department sent two tweets in response. One had thoughts and prayers in it for the loss the Kentucky cops faced.

Some big city police squads submitted their words of support, too. Their messages were short and sweet. No pun intended.

Even the public joined in on the fun, sending their puns and condolences to the Kentucky officers.

Did you like to see cops showing their human side?

The Twitter thread was almost entirely filled with fun and joking, something not always seen on social media.

Maybe that is due to the cops showing their lighter side.

Perhaps their playfulness was contagious and helped put something fun and light on what can too often be a brutal line of work.
