Dad's Heart-Rending Letter to Unborn Disabled Child Shames Pro-Abortion 'Parents'

For this guy, every day is Father’s Day.

While the heartless butchers of Planned Parenthood and their politicians in the Democrat Party champion the “right” of a woman to end the life of an unborn baby in her womb, a letter from a father to his unborn child being circulated by the pro-life website LifeNews is offering a look at the hearts of expectant parents everywhere.

And it’s a beautiful thing to see.

The letter, originally published by Human Life International on March 31, contains no information about the identification of the father or date when it was written, but it describes the reaction of a man and his wife to some bad news from the doctor’s office.

The baby the woman was carrying had been was showing signs of a birth defect called agenesis of corpus callosum, a rare condition that could result in mental retardation.

In 21st century America, when even an inconvenience to the mother can result in an unborn child’s destruction in the womb, that could have been the end of this baby girl’s life before it even began. But this father had other ideas.

Addressing his developing daughter as “Lemondrop,” the man first described the overwhelming joy the couple had felt at the news they were having another child.

“We asked God for you. We prayed for a family and God has blessed us with both you and your older brother,” he wrote. “You are the answer to our prayers, the fourth member of our family.”

Then came the fateful visit to the doctor’s office.

Do you think abortion will every be outlawed in the United States?

“He told us that there was a slight problem with the development going on in your brain. We listened as he told us about the part of your brain called the corpus callosum … He told us that this part of your brain was underdeveloped, or not developed at all. He couldn’t tell exactly because it’s still pretty early, and ultrasounds are not supposed to be diagnostic tools.”

Then came the couple’s response – and it’s an inspirational testament to the literally unconditional love of parenthood, and boundless faith in a higher purpose.

“Long story short, there aren’t a lot of answers yet. But that doesn’t mean our love for you will falter, Lemondrop. You are so dear to us, and we love you so much. Nothing that happens will ever change that. Your worth does not come from what you can accomplish or what you will be able to do or not do. Your worth and value come from the fact that you were created in the image and likeness of God, and you are His child!”

The degree of severity of the girl’s condition wasn’t known to this man and his wife. Children born with ACC can be subject to epileptic seizures, mild to severe retardation, and certain physical deformities.

None of that mattered a whit to the man writing this letter – or the promise that he made.

“Please know that we will always care for and protect you; this is what mommies and daddies are for.

“We will love you no matter what. You will be just perfect for us, and we know God made you specially to be our child. The doctor is not concerned about any terrible outcomes, by the way, so neither am I. No matter what happens, you will always be God’s child and He will always care for you even better than mommy and daddy can …

“Our love for you does not depend on how your brain works or anything you might accomplish or not accomplish during your life. Our love for you will always be there because you are our child. You are a product of our love, and a reminder that God has a plan for all of us. He loves us so much, and He always wants what is best for us.”

The man then cited a biblical verse that reveals the lie behind every “pro-choice” argument ever made about the worthlessness of a child developing in the earliest stages of pregnancy.

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

“So I’m going to pray for you, and I’m going to ask everyone I know to do the same. I want you to know that God always hears and answers prayers. We don’t always like the answers, but He always gives them. Sometimes the answer is ‘no’, and we have to be okay with that, too. These are lessons that your mommy and I will teach you as you are growing up. For now, your mommy and I are trusting God and putting you in His hands.”

And he closed with a pledge that – spoken or unspoken – has guided the hearts of men and women when it comes to their children going back into the mists of time.

“Your mommy and I will always be there to love you along the way. No matter what,” he wrote.

It’s a letter to shame parents who’s loved their own children, yet support the “right” of others to kill theirs.

At a time when their society sanctions the destruction of the unborn for literally no reason at all (other than to profit from the sale of the dismembered parts), this man, and his wife, are depending on the God they consider their eternal father, to help them in the days ahead, being loving parents to the baby daughter they now know only as “Lemondrop.”

And with that father’s help, every day will always be Father’s Day.
