Dem Candidate Sinema Attacked Stay-at-Home Moms, Calling Them 'Leeches'

Share

Goes to show what some people really mean when they refer to themselves as “feminists.”

Arizona’s Democratic nominee for Senate, U.S. Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, once described stay-at-home moms as women “leeching off their husbands or boyfriends.”

According to a 2012 article from the Phoenix New Times, brought to light by the conservative online publication The Federalist, Sinema made the nasty comment in 2006 to 944 Magazine, an out-of-print publication about the nightlife scene in Scottsdale, Arizona.

“These women who act like staying at home, leeching off their husbands or boyfriends, and just cashing the checks is some sort of feminism because they’re choosing to live that life,” Sinema told the magazine.

“That’s bullsh—. I mean, what the f—- are we really talking about here?”

Sinema also called conservatives “neanderthals” in the same magazine interview.

The New Times article was covering Sinema’s first run for a seat in the U.S House of Representatives. Sinema doesn’t seem to have changed much in the six years since. Then, just like now, she had a habit of misusing “toothpaste” words (once they’re out, you can’t take them back … or squeeze them back into the toothpaste tube).

Sinema later claimed that her insulting description of stay-at-home mothers was “sarcastic,” according to the Phoenix Business Journal.

But considering the way she speaks about her own home state of Arizona now, you wouldn’t be able to tell that Sinema’s animosity for family values oriented people is simply her idea of caustic wit.

Do you think Arizona voters should reject Sinema's attitudes?

She has called Arizona “the meth lab of democracy,” warned people not to let their states “turn into” Arizona, and visibly cringes just saying the name of the state she represents.

Please tell me she does stand-up on the side!

Six years ago, the Phoenix New Times called it her “knack for the self-inflicted wound and the political tin ear that accompanies it.”

But since being elected as a representative, Sinema’s self-inflicted wound became Arizona’s self-inflicted wound, with Sinema taking every chance she can to attack the state and the people she represents.  (Though she still wants their votes in the upcoming midterm election).

On the topic of Sinema’s infamous gaffes, how about the time that she said that she didn’t mind if Americans wanted to join the Taliban army?

And there was that teensy discrepancy about her self-professed humble beginnings, which were found to be far from as humble as she made out them out to be.

And there was the time she encouraged Wiccans to “dance, twirl, and stay in touch” with their “inner creativity and with the Earth” after she invited the happy campers to a rally where she spoke. And apparently at a later demonstration, she joined in “singing and spiraling in the pagan’s circle only 5 rows back from the police line.”

No leeches here. Sinema has obviously chosen a much better and much more feminist lifestyle than women who nobly sacrifice to raise their children.
