While Dem Rep. Brings Illegal to SOTU, Sen. Blackburn's Bringing Dad Who Lost Son to Illegal
President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address is back on track to be given from the House of Representatives chamber on Tuesday, February 5. But don’t expect that to be the end of the drama.
Once again, the Democrats are inviting at least one undocumented individual to be a guest. Their flagrant disregard for the laws of the land is astonishing to see in people elected to uphold the Constitution and paid, for life, on the taxpayer dime.

Contrast that with guests the Republicans invite. For this year’s address, we know that at least two Republican members of Congress have invited individuals harmed by illegal immigration to attend.

Tennessee’s Sen. Marsha Blackburn joined Tennessee’s Rep. Tim Burchett in inviting the parents of a 22-year-old killed by an illegal alien just days after Christmas.
Burchett had invited Pierce Corcoran’s mother, Wendy Corcoran, to be his guest. Burchett’s wife gave up her seat so Wendy could attend, according to The Washington Free Beacon.
“My wife gladly gave up her spot for the Corcorans, and I’m honored to have them in attendance at the State of the Union. I have been friends with their family for years, and I can’t imagine how difficult it was losing Pierce,” Burchett said.
What Burchett added later highlights the reason why the presence of the Corcorans at the State of the Union is so important. “Congress has to get to work on stronger laws and increased border security so tragedies like this might be prevented in the future.”
Blackburn then invited Pierce’s father, Knoxville Fire Captain DJ Corcoran, to be her guest. Her choice of guest allows both parents to be present in the House of Representatives while Democrats flaunt their illegal alien guest.
“The tragedy the Corcoran family has endured is one no family should ever have to experience. The attendance of Pierce’s parents at the State of the Union serves as a reminder that we as a Congress have a duty to keep the American people safe. It is an honor to attend with Captain Corcoran,” Blackburn said.
Trump had previously stated that there would be “border-related” guests in attendance. His statement came during an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller.
“I will say that some of them will be border-related, some of them will be people who have suffered very badly because we didn’t do what we should’ve done in a very dangerous part of our country, and so that’s going to be a part of it, absolutely,” Trump said.
For some, the Democrats choosing to host an illegal alien as a guest is a matter of political expediency. As one example of this, their refusal to accept compromises by Trump on illegal immigration could indicate more of a determination to refuse to work with Trump than a resolve to obtain any help or protection for illegal aliens.
Last year they invited a number of illegal aliens to attend, but when President Trump offered concessions for illegal immigrants, the Democrats refused to accept them.
Now New Jersey’s Democratic Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman has invited Victorina Morales to attend the State of the Union Address. Morales is an illegal alien who was recently fired from the Trump National Golf Club.
This appears to be a direct jab at Trump. It could also seem like the Democrats are using an illegal alien in an attempt to smear him, while still refusing to accept Trump’s compromises on illegal immigration.
Democrats insisted for a month they were ready to negotiate on border security when government reopened. It’s been nearly a week and we have yet to see even one Dem compromise counteroffer to the multiple proposals from POTUS. This is not a negotiation—one side isn’t negotiating.

Amazing. Hardly 24 hours in to conference talks and Speaker Pelosi announces “no wall money” in a bill. This is a total and open refusal to even negotiate on something fundamental to a secure border.

Trump’s partial government shutdown reprieve came with a three-week deadline. If the Democrats continue to refuse to do their job in relation to national security and deny funding the border wall, another shutdown may very well ensue. Or Trump may use an executive order to ensure that the barrier gets taken care of along the southern border of the United States.
