Democrat Senator Sparks Outrage with Sick Trump Remark on 'Ellen'
Imagine Sarah Palin joking about killing Barack Obama.
Or Michele Bachmann. Or Laura Ingraham.
If a white conservative woman had make a flippant remark about the death of the nation’s first black president, the liberal commentariat would be in an uproar. But when a black California Democrat made a wisecrack on a talk show about killing President Donald Trump, it was a much different story.
There was gale of laughter, and the show’s host herself applauded.
The moment came Thursday, when up-and-coming Democrat Sen. Kamala Harris, a Californian and potential contender for the Democrat nomination for president in 2020, appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
DeGeneres was asking Harris a series of questions that sounded more appropriate to a Cosmo bedroom quiz than an interview with a United States senator (any tattoos? secret celebrity crush?). Then she asked this one:
“If you had to be stuck in an elevator with either President Trump, Mike Pence or Jeff Sessions, who would it be?”
“Does one of us need to come out alive?” Harris answered, to uproarious laughter from Degeneres’ audience and DeGeneres herself.
OK, then.
A sitting United States senator just made a joke about killing the nation’s president, the vice president and the attorney general on national television, and the mainstream media has virtually nothing to say about it.
Fox News covered it with a mild headline: “Sen. Kamala Harris Raises Eyebrows on ‘Ellen’ with Trump Joke.”
The headline on SFGate, a sister website of the San Francisco Chronicle, made it seem like conservatives were at fault for not getting the joke: “Sen. Kamala Harris ruffles feathers with ‘Trump death joke’ on ‘Ellen’ show.”
But Trump supporters didn’t think it was funny at all.
The fact that Harris — who apparently has Oval Office aspirations herself — could make a joke about killing three top American officials in a strike that would rival John Wilkes Booths’ plans speaks volumes about the degeneracy of Democrat politics during the Trump presidency.
If the mainstream media wasn’t paying attention, conservatives certainly were, and the social media reaction showed it.
On his Facebook page, Fox News host Sean Hannity called it a “shocking new low.” And Twitter users were just as outraged.
How in the hell did this woman get elected?

But conservative actor James Woods, a champion Twitter poster, had the most succinct response:

He’s right, of course. Nominating a nobody like Harris would definitely doom Democrats.
But even the fact that a woman aiming for a national election would make a joke like this says it all about the current state of the Democrat Party.
If it had been a white woman representing the conservative side — Palin, Ingraham, Bachmann or anyone else — she would have been condemned by Democrats, but conservatives would be questioning it too.
But when it’s a Democrat talking — especially a liberal, black, female Democrat talking — it’s a different story.
Degenerate is the only word.
