Dems Intro Legislation That Will Prevent GOP from Ever Winning Presidency Again by Destroying the Electoral College
Senate Democrats are trying to remove the last vestige of our Republic by abolishing the Electoral College, which would leave Americans in the heartland at the mercy of a few, densely populated left-wing states.
Democrats in Congress, including presidential New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, introduced a constitutional amendment on Tuesday that would abolish the Electoral College and leave presidential elections up to the popular vote, according to Fox News.
The measure is also being supported by Sens. Dick Durbin of Illinois and Dianne Feinstein of California, who explained their flawed rationale in a news release.
“Every four years, Californians are under-represented when they cast ballots for president of the United States because of the Electoral College… That’s simply not fair and needs to be fixed, particularly given that twice in the last two decades the popular victor hasn’t become president. The best solution is to eliminate the Electoral College,” Feinstein said in the release.
Durbin echoed Feinstein’s sentiment and slammed the Electoral College as “a relic from a shameful period in our nation’s history.”
This announcement came just one day after 2020 hopeful Beto O’Rourke also called to abolish the Electoral College.
“Let’s abolish the Electoral College,” O’Rourke said at the We the People Membership Summit in Washington. “If we get rid of the Electoral College, we’d get a little closer to one person, one vote.”

When Democrats paint the Electoral College as “unfair” and ask for “one person, one vote,” what they really mean is that they don’t value the interests of Americans living in smaller states.
With the Electoral College in place, presidential candidates must pay attention to the interests of people living in less populated states. Obviously, a farmer in Iowa is going to have a different set of needs than a hipster urbanite in Los Angeles.
The Electoral College ensures that presidential candidates focus their attention on a wider array of Americans — from Oregon and Iowa to Pennsylvania and Nevada.
However, that’s not to say candidates don’t care about winning huge states like California and Texas, because those states definitely get their fair share of attention.
To put it simply, the Electoral College is a genius system that ensures the interests of all states are represented. After all, the United States of America is supposed to be a republic.
But without the Electoral College, heartland America would be completely forgotten and candidates would only appeal to the interests of those in a handful of heavily populated states, like California and New York.
Other Democrats who support eliminating the idea, according to The Hill, include Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Kamala Harris of California and Cory Booker of New Jersey.
But conservatives can see where that idea would go.

Democrats have a tight grip on California and New York, but they are completely out of touch with middle America, which is precisely why they want to abolish the Electoral College.
The left desperately wants to prevent the possibility of another candidate like President Donald Trump, who won the Electoral College after narrowly losing the popular vote.
If Democrats get their way, there will likely never be another Republican president unless Republicans adopted a left-wing platform.
It would be completely devastating to our republic to put the fate of the nation into the hands of a few, populous left-wing states.
