Dems Trash Trump Over Daniels, Ignore FDR's Sick "Love Nest"
If it seems like all the liberal media and Democrats can talk about these days is former porn star Stormy Daniels, well, that is because essentially all they have talked about the past few weeks has been an alleged affair a dozen years ago between Stormy and Donald Trump.
To be clear, adultery and infidelity are wrong, and if then-businessman/TV star Trump really did have a consensual affair with Daniels, that was wrong. But it is also a private matter best left to be handled by Trump and his wife, Melania, not gloriously relished and rehashed in public by the media.
Except that is exactly what the media has done with their relentless obsession and trashing of Trump in regard to Daniels, which also rings rather hollow and hypocritical given how the liberal media has handled rumors and confirmations of affairs by previous presidents who just happened to also be popular Democrats.
For example, the U.K. Daily Mail reported in 2012 on a number of alleged affairs carried out by Democrat icon and former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, affairs which were said to be held in FDR’s “love nest,” a cottage in Hyde Park in upstate New York.
One of FDR’s first affairs was said to be with a woman named Lucy Mercer, his wife’s personal secretary, while he served as assistant secretary to the Navy in 1916. Eleanor eventually discovered the affair after finding love letters, but Mercer was said to have remained by Roosevelt’s side even until he died in 1945, despite having gone on to marry another man.
Another of FDR’s alleged affairs was with a woman named Diasy Suckley, his sixth cousin and close confidant who was also by his side when he died.
That affair was discovered when Suckley died in 1991 and a trove of letters between her and FDR were found, though some argue the intimate letters only revealed a close friendship and not a romantic affair.
Then there was Princess Martha of Sweden, who fled to the U.S. in 1941 to escape the Nazis. She was rumored to have had an ongoing affair with FDR as she was routinely spotted visiting with the president at both Hyde Park and the White House, conveniently whenever first lady Eleanor was out of town. The two were also said to be rather flirtatious with each other.
FDR was also alleged to have had an affair around that same time with a woman named Dorthy Schiff, the former publisher of the New York Post. The affair was noted in a 1976 biography of Schiff which she herself had approved, only to later deny the affair allegations once the book had been published.
But perhaps FDR’s longest and most infamous affair was with his own long-time secretary Missy LeHand — who received half of FDR’s $3 million estate after his death — which was said to have begun in 1921 when FDR was governor of New York. In fact, that alleged affair was seemingly confirmed in a book written by FDR’s own son Elliot, who indicated that the affair was well-known and accepted by the president’s close circle of family and friends.
Fast forward about 20 years from FDR’s death and we have former President John F. Kennedy, who according to conservative pundit Larry Elder, was alleged to have carried out “reckless and dangerous sexual misbehavior during his presidency,” all the while remaining incredibly popular among Democrats.
An exposé of JFK known as “The Dark Side of Camelot” was written by respected former New York Times investigative reporter Seymour Hersh, who revealed that JFK had utilized the Secret Service to help him sneak women in and out of the White House for him while first lady Jackie was absent.
That “insatiable appetite for sex” with many women — both prostitutes and Hollywood starlets — allegedly resulted in JFK contracting an unspecified venereal disease and threats of sexual blackmail which were used to obtain lucrative government contracts.
Do we even need to rehash the countless allegations of rape, sexual assault and illicit affairs of former President Bill Clinton, both prior to and during his tenure in the White House?
One thing that nearly all of these alleged affairs have in common is that they were largely ignored or downplayed by the liberal media and Democrats.
If Trump really did have consensual affairs with porn stars and playmates prior to his presidency, again, that would be wrong. But the liberal media is also wrong to hypocritically harp on those alleged affairs while ignoring their own history of downplaying or covering up equally salacious rumors of past Democrat party icons.
