A Las Vegas officer just had the fight of his life against a man who tried to break the law — then tried to get a bunch of strangers to help him escape.
In the video, uploaded in early March, a routine street pat-down turned into a potentially dangerous pursuit when the suspect ran, bringing the officer after him.
In a half-dozen strides, the two men were scuffling on a parking lot, and viewers get an up-close look at how very dirty and dangerous police work really is.
In the parking lot, they entered such a grappling match that it attracted passersby — and in the current anti-cop climate, that’s when things could have gotten very hairy.
“Come on, man,” the suspect exclaimed to strangers. “Somebody help me!”
He tried relying on strangers to defend his lawlessness, but it didn’t pay. The policeman lost his radio, but not before he called in backup. No one came to the suspect’s aid, but more police came to finish the arrest. The fight was about a minute and a half of straight grappling, before the officer pulled out his stun gun and subdued the suspect.
This arrest went as well as it could have, given the circumstances. but it could easily have gone south in a big, big way.
Thankfully the police have an array of weapons to fit any situation.
