Pulling into a parking lot and seeing non-disabled people taking up space in what few handicapped spots are usually available is extremely frustrating for those who require them to assist their handicapped passengers.
Typically, next to most parking spaces designated for the handicapped is another parking space-sized area that served as a loading and unloading zone for passengers using a wheelchair. This area offers space to deploy ramps and lifts from specialized vehicles.
When one father pulled up to his disabled son’s school to park, he noticed a non-disabled woman and her child parked in the designated no-parking zone next to a handicapped parking space and decided to take action by recording the encounter on video.
The video, which quickly went viral when it was originally uploaded, started with, “I use disabled parking for my son who is in a wheelchair. Often times, when I take him to kindergarten there is someone using those spaces who doesn’t have a disabled placard or plate.”
“This is one of those days.”
The video showed a black SUV parked in the designated space, occupied by an incredibly angry mother who’s convinced that she’s done nothing wrong — until the father calls her out for her disrespectful actions.
Throughout the recording, as the father attempted to explain why it’s important that she not park in a spot that he depends upon to unload his son for school, she reacted with profanity and incessantly calls him rude for recording her actions (H/T Opposing Views).
If that weren’t bad enough, she then resorted to a threatening tone, saying, “You’re lucky my husband ain’t here,” and, “Do you have any idea who I am? You might want to watch yourself.”
Well, now she can watch herself, along with the almost two million people who had watched the father’s video on YouTube as of Friday afternoon.
The video ended with the woman having strong words with the school’s principal, demanding that her child be pulled out of the school immediately.
Judging by their body language and words, it appeared that the group of parents who were gathered around the two having the verbal altercation weren’t exactly best friends with the angry woman.
We’re guessing they’re probably in good company.
This woman apparently wants people to know who she is, so let’s spread this story on Facebook and Twitter to make sure she gets her fifteen minutes of fame. Or infamy. Whatever.
