Leak: FBI Changed 2 Words in Hillary Memo, Saved Her From a Felony

Share

A report released on Thursday revealed that former FBI Director James Comey’s memo on the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails had been edited to remove multiple references of incriminating terms as well as any mentions of evidence that might indicate criminal activity.

According to a report by The Hill, Comey’s subordinate, former FBI agent Peter Strzok, edited the statement and removed five references in which terms like “grossly negligent” were replaced by softer language that likely protected Clinton from criminal liability.

The document also showed that subordinates deleted any mention of evidence that might support prosecution of felony and misdemeanor violations.

Senate Homeland and Government Affairs Committee Chairman Sen. Ron Johnson’s website released the full draft of Comey’s memo on Clinton, including the edits to the draft, and they are damning.

The original draft, The Hill reported, “leaves little doubt that Comey originally wrote on May 2, 2016 that there was evidence that Clinton and top aides may have violated both felony and misdemeanor statutes, though he did not believe he could prove intent before a jury.”

One of the more controversial changes involves changing Comey’s estimation that Clinton and her staff were “grossly negligent” in the handling of sensitive emails, which is a felony, to “extremely careless.”

Moreover, Comey originally wrote that it was “reasonably likely” that hostile actors accessed Clinton’s email account. “Reasonably likely” was replaced with “possible.”

According to The Hill, one edit that concerned Johnson was the decision to delete a reference to the FBI working on a joint assessment with other intelligence agencies regarding possible national security damage from Clinton communicating through non-secure email servers.

“We have done extensive work with the assistance of our colleagues elsewhere in the Intelligence Community to understand what indications there might be of compromise by hostile actors in connection with the private email operation,” Comey originally wrote.

The reference to the rest of the intelligence community was edited out, the memo showed.

Johnson, a Wisconsin Republican, now wants to know whether other intelligence agencies had assessments of any such damage that might have occurred, and if those assessments were more negative than that of the FBI.

We may never get any answers, and sadly, we may never see any justice.

The changes to Comey’s statement seem to point to a clear-cut determination to clear Clinton of any misconduct. More importantly, the changes appear to be an attempt to use the agency’s reputation for fairness as a way to clear the former secretary.

It seems as though the FBI is partial to powerful persons such as Clinton. Regular Americans, however, do not get special treatment.

How is that nobody on team Clinton has ever been held responsible for the gross negligence Comey pointed out?

Clinton aide Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills, who gave false statements to the FBI about what they knew of Clinton’s server, were granted immunity deals.

And Clinton, who compromised national security and lied about it endlessly, sits comfortably in her Chappaqua home.

It seems the FBI is as crooked as Clinton.
