DOJ Prosecutes Trump Aides for Lying, Does Nothing When FBI Official Is Caught in Lie

Share

Conservatives are rightfully outraged at hypocrisy coming from the Department of Justice after an FBI official violated federal regulations by accepting gifts from the media and then lying about it to the Office of the Inspector General.

And then was allowed to retire without any prosecution.

On Tuesday, the OIG released a report detailing the misconduct of the unnamed FBI official.

The OIG found text messages proving that the official accepted gifts from the media.

“The text messages indicated that a senior FBI official accepted two tickets to a professional sports game as a gift from a television news correspondent who regularly covered the FBI and DOJ, in violation of federal regulations,” the report read.

Anybody could understand why FBI officials shouldn’t accept gifts from the media. It would look an awful lot like a bribe, and there’s already enough corruption coming from the deep state.

If accepting gifts from the media wasn’t bad enough, the official also lied to the OIG under oath.

“The senior FBI official initially maintained to the OIG in an interview under oath that the official had paid for the tickets, but five days later admitted to the OIG that the official did not,” according to the report.

However, the Department of Justice chose not to prosecute this lying FBI official despite prosecuting people close to President Donald Trump for doing the same thing.

Should this FBI official be prosecuted?

“Criminal prosecution was declined,” the report bluntly stated. ” The senior FBI official retired from the FBI during the OIG’s investigation.”

Previously, former Trump campaign volunteer George Papadopoulos and retired Army Gen. Michael Flynn, who served briefly as Trump national security advisor, were prosecuted by the DOJ.

Republican Rep. Mark Meadows pointed out the DOJ’s hypocrisy on Twitter.

“Total hypocrisy. DOJ prosecutes Mike Flynn and George Papadopoulos for lying to the FBI. But a senior FBI official accepted free gifts from a media member, lied to the FBI about it, and faces no prosecution,” Meadows wrote.

Former Rep. Jason Chaffetz, a Utah Republican, also expressed outrage over the DOJ’s decision.

“IG found criminal wrong-doing by an FBI official and DOJ refused to prosecute. Should be a MUCH bigger story. Where is AG Sessions? When will there be justice?” Chaffetz wrote.

There is clearly an anti-Trump agenda being pushed from within the FBI and DOJ. It doesn’t make sense that an FBI official wouldn’t be prosecuted for lying under oath after the same agency made literally a federal case out of the Flynn and Papadopoulos statements.

The lawless deep state can commit whatever kind of crimes they want with little oversight, but the book will be thrown at you if you’re a Trump official.
