A video has surfaced showing the devastating aftermath Hurricane Irma had on a tiny island. The horrible storm swept across the area, completely destroying 90 percent of the land, structures and vehicles.
Hurricane season is definitely upon us and a flurry of storms are sweeping across the globe with intense ferocity. Harvey destroyed Houston, Texas and surrounding areas and now Hurricane Irma has claimed its first victim — the small Island of Barbuda.
According to CNN, Hurricane Irma is the strongest storm ever recorded in the Atlantic. As it swept across the northern Caribbean islands, it came across Barbuda and completely obliterated it.

The usual pristine beaches of Codrington, “the sole town on this smaller 62-square-mile island,” were turned to muddy gore after the tropical storm passed through. Residents who had saved their entire lives to build their homes saw the fruits of their labor reduced to rubble.
“Prime Minister Gaston Browne said Barbuda had sustained damage to some 95 percent of all government and personal properties — including the hospital and the airport, which he said had its roof completely blown away. At least one person, a young child, was killed on Barbuda — one of as many as 10 deaths reported across the Caribbean in Irma’s aftermath,” The Washington Post reported.
It’s one thing to hear about this devastation. It’s quite another to actually see it. However, aerial and ground footage has been obtained and you have to see this to believe it. Check out the footage below.

Unfortunately, whatever is left of the tiny island may be taken out by another hurricane on the way. Hurricane Jose is expected to hit the islands at any moment and it is thought to be quite powerful.
“The National Hurricane Center released an ominous bulletin Thursday morning about the new menace looming in the Atlantic: ‘……JOSE EXPECTED TO BECOME A MAJOR HURRICANE BY FRIDAY … WATCHES ISSUED FOR THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS,'” The Post continued.
This news comes a harsh blow to those already affected by the storm’s damage, many of whom are now without shelter.
“‘We are very worried about Hurricane Jose,'” Browne said Thursday in a phone interview with The Washington Post, adding that Irma had left some 60 percent of Barbuda’s nearly 2,000 residents homeless.”

When it comes to natural disasters, hurricanes rank up there as the worst for mankind. Not only do strong winds completely destroy building structures, but the flooding claims countless lives.
Our prayers are with all those in the path of Harvey, Irma and Jose.
