Watch: Foreign Army Performs Bizarre Stunts to Impress "Mad Dog" Mattis

Share

Make no mistake, having a guy with the nickname “Mad Dog” for a visit can be a little intimidating.

When Defense Secretary James Mattis made a trip to Indonesia on Wednesday, the Indonesian troops obviously felt the need to impress him. In what would turn out to be quite the bizarre presentation, Mattis looked on while the troops performed rare skills.

Of course, as the Washington Examiner reported, a group of reporters were told this was a “routine military demonstration.”

Yeah, sure.

The presentation started as one soldier put a hood over his head and proceeded to cut a cucumber that was in another soldier’s mouth. In the same vein, another hooded soldier shot a balloon that was in between another soldier’s legs. Talk about trust!

But then, things got even weirder when the soldiers brought out the snakes.

Do you think Mattis was impressed with this bizarre presentation?

These soldiers took the live snakes, even a King Cobra, and then dropped them in front of Mattis. Before the snakes had a chance to attack, though, the soldiers grabbed the snakes, cut off their heads, and drank their blood. Some soldiers even bit into the live snakes.

Think that was weird? Oh, it gets better.

The Indonesian forces also took out concrete blocks, lit them on fire, and broke them with their heads.

They saved the best for last with an epic finale. For the conclusion, troops staged a fake hostage situation in which the Indonesian troops rescued the hostage.

Even better, they did all this to the soundtrack from the movie “Mission: Impossible.”

It was quite the bizarre ending to quite a bizarre presentation.

The Examiner reported that later in the evening on the plane, Mattis told reporters, “You could imagine how much training went into each individual there, that they were able to do that. When you watch a force do that, many small things, perfectly, you can imagine that they can also put the bigger things together.”

Very gracious words from a man who knows and understands the military better than just about anybody.

This trip was made as the Indonesian military is hoping to mend relations with the U.S.

Back in the 1990s, the U.S. had to impose restrictions on them due to human rights abuses.

It looks like this could have been a good first step, despite the rather strange demonstration.
