Gary Sinise Rips Anti-Military Teacher Over Unpatriotic Comments

Share

Gregory Salcido hasn’t had a particularly good week.

First, it came out that the Pico Rivera, California, teacher — who also sits on the city council there — had gone on a long rant about how those who are in the military are “dumbs***s” and how “your freaking stupid Uncle Louie” would be the only type of person who would sacrifice for their country.

Then came the backlash. He was put on administrative leave by the El Rancho Unified School District, according to the Whittier Daily News, and was even chastised by the Department of Defense.

Now, the legendary “Lt. Dan” is coming out against the teacher.

In a tweet, actor Gary Sinise — best known for his role as Tom Hanks’ commanding officer in “Forrest Gump” — ripped Salcido and his “stupidity & ignorance,” calling what he had done an “outrageous insult.”

For those of you who are late to the party, Salcido became famous for this rant (Warning: Some bad language ahead):

The rant was apparently sparked by a student wearing a Marines shirt inside the classroom.

“We got a bunch of dumbs***s over there,” Salcido said.

Do you think Gregory Salcido should be fired?

“Think about the people who you know who are over there, your freaking stupid Uncle Louie or whoever. They’re dumbs***s.

“They’re not like high-level thinkers, they’re not academic people, they’re not intellectual people. They’re the freaking lowest of our low. Not morally. I’m not saying they make bad moral decisions. They’re not talented people.”

It didn’t take long for pretty much everybody to jump on Salcido’s words, including the Pentagon.

“I have seen maybe a few things that he said that were very uninformed, and I think that’s an excellent example of who we would like to connect with, and inform them with an accurate image of those who are serving and why they serve,” said Pentagon spokeswoman Amber Smith, according to the Washington Examiner. (Smith, by the way, is one of those “freaking stupid” patriots who joined the military and piloted an Army helicopter in Iraq and Afghanistan prior to taking her previous position, according to the Examiner.)

Sinise, known for his dedication to veterans’ causes, also thought along the same vein. However, he was somewhat less polite.

“Such stupidity & ignorance of this so called teacher in CA. regarding the intelligence of men & women serving our country overseas,” Sinise wrote Sunday.

“An outrageous insult to all who have served, including former presidents of the United States. Feeling sad for his students.”

Sinise usually seems like a pretty laid-back guy. However, when it comes to Salcido’s case, even he couldn’t hold back.

We can’t blame him.

Please like and share on Facebook and Twitter if you can’t, either.
