German Woman Who Joined ISIS Sentenced to Death by Hanging
Why anybody would want to join a defeated organization baffles me, but that’s exactly what one German woman did when she decided to join the Islamic State.
Now, that dumb decision is going to cost her more than she ever imagined.
Last July, Iraqi forces defeated Islamic State terror group fighters in Mosul and pushed them out of the city.
As a result, a group of women were captured after the battle. One unnamed German woman is said to have been a part of the group and has now been sentenced to hang, thanks to a ruling by an Iraqi court.
The Independent reported that the the court in Baghdad “convicted the unnamed German woman of ‘providing logistical support and assistance to the terrorist group to commit crimes’ and has ordered her execution.”
A spokesman for the council says the woman admitted to joining the Islamic State group after travelling from Germany to Syria, and then later to Iraq with her two daughters. Those two daughters would eventually go on to marry militants.
The Independent also reported that foreign fighters aren’t too uncommon.
In fact, in a report by the Soufran Group, of the 27,000 foreign fighters who have traveled to Iraq and Syria, 6,000 of them are Europeans.
This would-be jihadi was believed to originally hail from Germany’s Mannheim region, but is allegedly of Moroccan descent.
While the woman faces death by hanging, the spokesman for the Supreme Judicial Council, Abdul-Sattar Bayrkdar, says that she can still appeal the decision.
Of course, I’d be surprised to see this get overturned. What did this woman expect was going to happen by joining the Islamic State group, a defeated, barbaric organization that is on the run?
Thanks to the Trump administration, the Islamic terrorists have taken some serious blows and have lost a lot of ground.
Last month, Iraq declared victory over the Islamic State which at one time controlled a third of Iraq. Furthermore, the Islamic State terrorists have been so decimated, that they are regulated to just carrying out lone wolf attacks — which, although deadly, puts them in a far less powerful position.
Regardless, for this woman, justice is served. When you join the side of terrorists, you have to know that that there are countries all over the word dedicated to make life a living hell for you. She learned that firsthand.
She joined a terrorist group. There’s just no coming back from that. Literally.
