Good Guy with a Gun Distracts Gunman, Shot Multiple Times Averting Potential Mass Shooting
Coweta County, Georgia, authorities say an off-duty bar employee stopped a potential mass shooting this week when he faced down an armed, angry patron with a firearm of his own.
According to an exclusive WAGA-TV report, surveillance footage from Fat Boys Bar and Grill showed the moment every gun control leftist should see.
A quick-thinking Ben McCoy retrieved a rifle from his car and distracted the gunman, Kevintez Mathewis, before he could re-enter the crowded bar.
Eyewitnesses told the news outlet Mathewis became aggressive and unhinged after being kicked out of the bar by security on Saturday morning. And judging by the video, Mathewis had no reservations about discharging his weapon.
In fact, McCoy was treated for “numerous” gunshot wounds.
With that in mind, it’s borderline impossible to argue this good guy with a gun didn’t save lives this weekend and, in doing so, entirely derailed the left’s ridiculous narrative that a good guy with a gun never made the world a safer place.

This law-abiding gun owner took a bullet — several, in fact — for his fellow man, putting himself at risk to hold an angry man with a gun at bay.
Instead of creating the scenario the left so often argues will transpire in the event something like this happens — the one where the good guy with a gun, untrained and unprepared, simply injures more civilians — McCoy showed tremendous restraint.
He held Mathewis at bay without firing a single shot.
The mere sight of a good man with a bigger gun turned Mathewis’ attention away from the innocent civilians and security guards inside the bar, forcing him to engage and eventually flee the scene.
But chances are you haven’t heard a word about any of this.
Congressional Democrats and the establishment media are too busy attempting to explain why two psychopaths with semi-automatic rifles gunning down innocent civilians in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, should serve as the example for why law-abiding citizens should be disarmed.
It’s a shame they don’t seem to understand that, even according to left-wing, anti-gun sources like Mother Jones, nearly 80 percent of mass shootings are committed with handguns, revolvers or shotguns. Not scary, black, semi-automatic rifles.
And this incident just serves as the perfect example of that.
Where the unhinged gunman came armed Saturday with a handgun, the law-abiding, good guy with a gun came outfitted with the left’s dreaded scary black rifle.
Oh, the irony.
