GOP Senator Blasts 'Squad,' Calls Them 'Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse'
The four freshman stars of the Democratic Party go by different names these days.
Individually, they might be Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or “AOC,” of course, Ilhan Omar, Aryanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib, and collectively they’re known as “the squad.”
But Louisiana Republican Sen. John Kennedy had his own name for the group – “The Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse” – and his words are catching on all the way into the Oval Office.
In an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson on Tuesday, Kennedy summed up what he considered the collective intelligence of “the squad” – who are all in their first time in Congress.
“I’m not sure the president should exchange playground insults with them,” he told Carlson. “You know, when you try to argue with a fool, that proves there are two…
“They’re entitled to their opinion. They’re Americans. But I’m entitled to my opinion. And I just think they’re left-wing cranks.
“And they’re the reason there are directions on a shampoo bottle.”
Check out the interview here. The whole thing is worth watching, but the “shampoo bottle” zinger comes about the 1:40 mark.
Naturally, Kennedy’s comments didn’t sit well with liberals. But Kennedy is not the type of conservative who cows easily.
In an interview Wednesday morning, CNN’s Jim Sciutto tried to back Kennedy down. It didn’t work.
“I believe the four congresswomen are more famous than wise,” he said – expressing what might be the single most unarguably true statement on politics in America this year.
In the White House, President Donald Trump must have liked Kennedy’s interview with Carlson too, since he quoted it extensively in a Twitter burst.

Intelligence-insulting taunts and presidential tweets aside, though, Kennedy was getting at an important point about the Democrats who’ve been dominating D.C. discussions this week:
They might be helping their own fame, but they’re not helping their party, and they’re not helping their country.
“They are destroying the Democratic Party,” he told Carlson. “I’m appalled that so many of our presidential candidates are falling all over themselves to try to agree with the Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse.”
“But if the Democrats want to continue to pursue this line, and say that America is a wicked country, and it was wicked when it was founded and it’s even more wicked today and we need to tear it down and start over, I don’t think the American people believe that.”
In 2016, Donald Trump bet his career that the American people didn’t believe that, and he won one of the biggest political upsets in the country’s history.
If Democrats want to bet the other way in 2020 — that they really think a majority of the American people are buying the garbage that “the squad” is selling — it’s a free country and they can do as they choose.
But they’re going to make Trump’s re-election bid that much easier in the process.
