A 10-year-old boy from the Bronx named Mohammed got more than he asked for when he went back into a store on August 19 to pick up a bag he had accidentally left there.
The boy claimed that while he was inside the story, an elderly lady demanded that he say, “Thank you.”
“I told the lady it’s none of her own biz, she said she has better grandsons that respect her and have better manners,” Mohammed stated.
That’s when the elderly woman started to get physical with Mohammed.
“She slapped me two times, I punched one time,” Mohammed said. He also stated that the lady called him “bad words” while beating him up.
Security camera footage showed her hitting Mohammed several times, as well as chasing him around the store. Ultimately Mohammed ended up with a bloody nose.
“Indescribable for a father to see your son chased and beat up,” said Ibrahim Almontsir, Mohammed’s father. “The way she punches him around, he was very helpless.”
This video has sparked quite a social media debate over whether or not the elderly woman went too far. Most commentators seem to believe that while physical discipline is fine, this lady went a little overboard.
Disciplining a child should never involve giving that child a bloody nose.
While Mohammed, by his own account, wasn’t exactly the friendliest of individuals, what he claims to have said certainly didn’t merit the violence shown in the security camera footage.
However, it is tough to make a final judgment about this lady’s actions because all we have is some security footage and the word of a 10-year-old.
